    Celebrations in July:

1 July – Claire Hughes
15 July – Ron Howells
17 July – Delene Huish
23 July – Phil & Kath Rickards – Diamond Wedding Anniversary
29 July – Sue Ruck

Colleen’s personalised cards are still only £3.00 but as always please give Colleen as much notice as possible if you would like her to make any of her beautiful personalised cards. She asks if you can please save the bags that she provides to display the cards in and return them to her once you have used the cards. Some people already do this and it’s much appreciated. This will in turn cut down on costs as she can recycle them and it’s much more environmentally friendly than throwing them away.

Pastoral Thanks and News

  • From Marcia – a very proud Mother-in-law!

My Daughter-in-law took part in the Big Hike on 6th June to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Her target was £300, thanks to people’s generosity, she smashed it.

This is what she posted on the fundraising page.

I’m doing this hike in memory of my father-in-law, Brian Hurley, who we lost in May 2024 but also for anyone who has been touched by this cruel disease.

Brian’s original prognosis was 5 years, but through the amazing treatment he received (as well as his fighting spirit and determination to live life to the fullest) he survived for 12 years and saw my daughter grow into a beautiful young person. I will forever be grateful for the extra time we had with him. My hope is that one day, no cancer diagnosis will be terminal and that that it becomes a fully curable disease

This is her post hike report:  The hike was across varied terrain and some of it was very challenging; not least because of the mud! The last 8 miles in particular were difficult, because my legs were really struggling by this point. All I can say is thank God for trekking poles!

The weather that day was appalling. The Hike was 26.2 miles. Starting at Talybont-on-Usk walking along the peaceful canal towpath across the River Usk into the majestic mountains of Bannau Brycheiniog. She completed the walk in 11:12:59 which she was very pleased with.

So how much did she raise?   An incredible £930 plus £167.50 Gift Aid.
