Community Events

At 10.15am every Monday – including Bank Holidays – the Park Ramblers meet outside B&M to start the week off with a walk around our beautiful park followed by coffee at The Gatto Lounge. If any arrangements change, walkers will be notified by email of any changes. All are welcome to join at their own pace or just join for coffee around 11am.  If the weather is very bad they may just go straight for coffee!! 😊

Christian Aid/Financial Update

As well as the fantastic amount of £1080.30 which was raised during Christian Aid during week in May, the amount of Gift Aid which has been claimed for the tax year from 6 April 2025 – 5 April 2026 is a tremendous £7,344.89.   If anyone wishes to Gift Aid please speak to Anne Coles.

Denominational News

  • In May representatives from across Britain and Ireland gathered in Cardiff for the annual meeting of the Churches Forum for Inter-Religious Relations. They were exploring interfaith engagement in Wales, relationships with the Welsh Government, examples of local partnership and community-building and how churches can build stronger relationships across faith communities.                                                                                                                                                                                                    Speakers included Jane Hutt, Kate McColgan, Revd Kate Wolsey, Gareth Hall, and Catrin Stevens, and the event concluded with reflections on faith and public life in Wales from Iestyn Davies of Cytûn. Revd Martin Spain also attended.
  • During our service on Sunday 21 June Revd Owen Griffiths made reference to the free Prayer app called Gweddi.Prayer which is used by the Presbyterian Church of Wales. For those who are interested this can be found on the Google Playstore. Over the coming months we will have details of some of the other initiatives which Owen mentioned during the service.

Eco Laundry Tips from A Rocha UK – Plastic free July!

A Rocha have produced a calendar of small actions we can all take to help climate change. July is about encouraging people to get use less plastic.

  • Swaps such as using refillable washing liquid, buying washing powder in bulk, and by choosing natural fibres, you can prevent microplastics from entering our waterways and the environment.
  • Many people find that switching to more sustainable laundry essentials is becoming easier. Some businesses encourage the use of reusable containers or the option to return refillable sachets to the distributor.
  • Fresh washing blowing in the breeze is a reminder of how nature can help make household jobs better for our health and happiness. Swapping breakable plastic pegs for durable metal clothing pegs adds a stylish, sustainable solution to your line-dried washing.
  • Some people make their own cleaning products. A popular stain remover is bicarbonate of soda mixed with vinegar. Others swap commercial detergents for soap nuts.
  • Filter attachments, wash bags and microfibre collectors are other ways people help prevent microplastics from entering our waterways.
