St David’s Uniting Church Monthly Magazine – February 2026

January 24, 2026 / Alison Jones / News

Thank you and Good News….

  • Chris Morris would like to send a great big thank you to everyone who sent cards and messages on the occasion of his 80th birthday. They were all very much appreciated.
  • The Park Ramblers support the Pontypridd Foodbank and at Christmas a cheque for £235 was donated from the Ramblers to the Foodbank.
  • From Jennie at Christian Aid:  Thank you for the generous collection (£190) on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, please do pass on our thanks to everyone, to the carol singers and to everyone at St Davids for their kind donations. Best wishes for 2026 to everyone.
  • Colleen has confirmed that the final amount raised for our Christmas appeal was £625.00 which has been split equally between Malagasy Bible Society and Rowan Tree Cancer Care.
  • Congratulations to Bethan and Ianto on the birth of their daughter Anna. Mum and baby are doing well.
  • Good News from Canada:  Back in October, you’ll remember that we sent photos to Jeff Crittenden and Katherine Ward to congratulate them on their wedding. They got married as planned at the end of December and we were delighted to receive these photos of their happy day. We’ll see Jeff and Katherine in July 2026 when Jeff will lead worship at St David’s.

Looking Ahead…..

The next Church Meeting will be held after the service on Sunday 1 March to be followed by a Cawl Lunch. A sign up sheet for the lunch will be available soon.

It is already 4 months since we changed from a weekly to monthly newsletter.  I have received some feedback but any comments (positive or negative) would be welcomed.

  • How easy/difficult are finding it to read/understand/remember?
  • Is there anything you think is missing?
  • Is there anything you think shouldn’t be in it?

Please let me or your elder know if you have any suggestions for ‘new’ items that could/should be included in future editions. We are a ‘family’, and as such we chat to each other, it is good that we care for each other and we encourage you to share your ‘news’ with us.

Just a reminder that I am on holiday from now until 19 February.  The next edition of the Newsletter with all the news and dates for March will be printed and online on Sunday 1 March.  Please send any material for this edition to your elder or directly to me either by email to [email protected] or by phone at the latest by Monday 23 February. My phone number is in the church directory and you are welcome to leave a message.  Any personal news should only be sent by (or at least with the permission of) the person who has news to share, especially if any personal details are included.

Take care when you are out and about in the cold wet and windy weather and soon we will be able to look forward to lighter evenings and warmer temperatures.

Alison
