Charities News

Nobody in our community should have to face going hungry. Which is why the Foodbank provides three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The Pontypridd Foodbank provides food parcels to those in crisis in the Pontypridd area. They sometimes have additional items such as toiletries, and also offer some help and a listening ear to those who call in to the Riverside Day Centre, Nile Street, Treforest. They rely on our supporters for Financial donations to help with operational costs. We have a collecting box for monetary donations. Please support them if you can.

 EcoTips from A Rocha UK

A Rocha have produced a calendar of small actions we can all take to help climate change. May is all about pollinators!

Support pollinators. Nothing says Spring like the buzz of a bee! But these precious pollinators are declining due to habitat loss, climate change and agricultural intensification. Wednesday 20 May is World Bee Day, so look around to see how you can improve habitats for bees and other pollinators.

Read more about bees, butterflies and habitats that support them in our Target 25 resources at A Rocha http://org.uk/what-we-do/target-25. Sow a pollinator friendly seed mix, make or buy a bee hotel, let some wild flowers grow in your garden, and don’t use pesticides. Pray that our pollinator populations will increase.
