The launch of our Voices Project last Saturday (3rd October) was marvellous – Phil welcomed everyone and I gave a brief synopsis of the Paul Robeson story and his bond with Wales and the way in which we will be exploring other forms of exclusion. The Town Mayor Jayne Brencher and the Moderator of the United Reformed Church Simon Walkling gave inspiring speeches.
Throughout Black History Month we will be inviting people to respond to the Robeson story and other examples of exclusion and injustice.
Sam and Zoe from Expressions Dance Company, choreographed by Louise Prosser performed their stunning and moving interpretation of the way in which Paul Robeson was silenced and yet never gave up his life long fight for equality and freedom and his unshakeable belief in the oneness of humanity.
Our AM Mick Antoniw and MP Owen Smith both responded at the end with effusive comments about the project and it’s potential for opening hearts and minds.
During the delicious buffet there were many heart felt remarks about the warmth of the welcome and the inclusive atmosphere that everyone had appreciated.

On Friday we welcomed Sara Pickard and Wayne Crocker for the Mencap Annual Lecture……a report will follow soon
Thank you for this report Beverley. It’s a beautiful way to remember the occasion. Great pictures.
