The Picturing Ponty team would like to thank everyone at St. David’s Uniting, who helped and supported the project. We think the project created a wonderful atmosphere in the church, evidenced by all the interesting stories people came to tell us and the comments made, which were, in turn, both humbling and enriching. The photographs are currently on show at the chaplaincy and the photographers will be invited in the coming weeks to make a donation towards the church development fund if they would like to have their print returned to them, – precise details to follow.
We had over 300 photographs submitted, over 120 people attended the launch, over 300 so far have voted for the “People’s Prize” (the Mayor has agreed to host the winner at the Mayor’s Parlour). In addition to the people who visited the exhibition, St David’s has reached out and engaged with, the Tenovus Sing for Life choir, Coedylan Primary school, members of Pontypridd Christians Together, the Guides, Merched y Wawr Pontypridd, Positively Ponty and Pontypridd Soroptimists.
As a result of our involvement with community groups, St. David’s Uniting has been invited to join Pontypridd “Movers and Shakers” network and communicated to many more via GTFM, Facebook, Twitter and the church website Hopefully it has brought us as members closer too, as we have engaged with each other in yet another way which linked easily with so many of our existing activities. So it is safe to say that the project has made an impact!
We acknowledge and thank our patron, Rowan Williams for his inspiring message, Beverley for her professionalism, Wil Stewart for his expertise in graphic design, our three judges, Darren Warner, Derek Lewis and Annie Grove White, Mike and Helen O’Callaghan Williams for the wonderful buffet, Pontypridd Town Council, Pontyclun Community Shop, the URC and PCW for financial support, Sainsbury’s for coffee and biscuits, Vaughan for his encouragement and last but by no means least Phil Wall for his message of support, (forgiving his rugby preferences!)
The exhibition would not have been possible without the imagination and expertise of the keen photographers who took the trouble to submit their photographs.
Well done everybody. Da iawn chi a diolch o galon i bawb.
The Team.
Who where the Team, you ask?
Amber Chester, Ben Walkling, Catherine Naamani,, Fiona Liddell,
James Stewart, Pam Mahoney, Ray Vincent and Russell Howells.
They, and those who acted as stewards, did a fantastic job.
We as a church say ‘THANK YOU’ to you all.
What a wonderful idea and the reality, from afar, was even better. We have enjoyed browsing through the photos. I misunderstood the event originally as I thought it a Pontypridd venture. Doing something so different will have made people notice St David’s Uniting Church and that it has a major role in the community.
Well done
Thank you Veronica.
Kind of you to say so. We are glad youe enjoyed reading about our project. It is great to be able to share it with friends known and unknown, across the world.
