6th April 2025
We welcome everyone who joins us to today which is the 5th Sunday in Lent and Passion Sunday.
We especially welcome Gwen Simmons who is leading our service from her home in Rotherham.
For people who are new to our fellowship, we first met Gwen when she was a student at the University of Glamorgan and came to worship with us in Gelliwastad Road and, as a clarinettist, joined Unedig (our music group). That was many years ago, but Gwen has become a good friend and has led many services both in person and via Zoom. We look forward to sharing worship with her this weekend, and hope to see her in person, rather than virtually, sometime in the future.
If you are joining on Zoom the chat room will be open from 10.30am
If you will be in the church, we invite you to join us in the hall following the service, when tea and coffee will be served and handmade cards will be on sale.

Great News!
We are delighted that Clare has agreed to the call to be the new minister of the Valleys Pastorate. We wish her every blessing as she completes her studies.
Pastoral Prayers
We are sorry to pass on the sad news that Eirwen Watts, who worshiped with us until she moved in 2019 to be nearer her family, passed away during the last week of March, her funeral will be held in Sirhowy on April 16th. We remember the happy times many people shared with her.
We think of the celebrant, the family and friends who will be attending a funeral in the church on Tuesday morning.
Please pray for people who have had dentist appointments and face more in the future.
We know of three people who are currently in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, we pray for them, the staff who care for them and those who are concerned for them.
People who are waiting for appointments which may involve travelling to a specialist hospital.
We remember those for whom this time of year holds sad memories.
The churches of our Pastorate and Clare, our Minister elect as we low forward to an exciting future.
The Elders as they meet today to plan for the future.
Thanks…..
…..from Kath, I would like to thank everyone for my cards, flowers, and gifts, I feel very privileged to be part of such a loving church family.

St David’s Guild
Last Wednesday we had a ‘new’ speaker! Terry Powell gave us a very interesting illustrated talk about people, all from Pontypridd, including a woman, who had served in the WW1. Two of them had memorial windows in our former church building. We heard about their achievements, struggles and awards – one had been awarded the VC. There is a plaque commemorating this on the house he was born in Maritime Street.
This week there is a change to the programme ~ it will be a surprise afternoon, it’s still in the planning stage!

Christian Aid Myanmar Earthquake Appeal.
The earthquake that struck central Myanmar has destroyed homes and left people in urgent need of drinking water, food and shelter. Christian Aid is working closely with their partners and colleagues in the region to identify the extent of the damage and the risk to communities there.
PLEASE donate on line via the Christian Aid Web site. OR give to the retiring collection after the service this week and next.
Handmade cards
Last year Colleen raised £540 for church funds from the sale of handmade cards and thanks everyone who kindly supports this project by buying their cards from her each week.
Don’t forget, there are cards available for all occasions and Colleen will personalise them if required.
Small cards are £1.50 and large cards are £2. We give Colleen a BIG THANKYOU for all her work.
