Pastoral Concerns
We can only include names when permission has been given.
- We are sorry to report that Marlene has had another brief stay in hospital but is now back home and is improving slowly.
- We heard during the week that Beti has fractured her shoulder and sustained a broken rib following a fall, we think of her as she copes with the restrictions the injury is causing.
- Marilyn Young has not been too well recently but is coping.
- We pray for Clare, our future Minister, as she prepares for her final months in Manchester and her exams.
- We remember those connected to our fellowship who are preparing for exams and for those who support them.
- We are aware that someone in our fellowship has had some misfortune in recent weeks, we hold them in our thoughts.
- We think of those who member receive treatment in their homes administered by district nurses, and hope that their ailments will improve quickly.
- We remember those for whom this time of year holds sad memories; may they feel love around them.
- There are a number of people who are in hospital, we keep them in our prayers.

Our traditions! Collecting postage stamps!
During the ministry of Rev Howard Sharp (1983-1993) at Pontypridd United Church the World Church group was formed. The founding members were the late Jeff Powell, (who was also an enthusiastic member of the Pontypridd branch of Amnesty International), the late Russell Howells and Viviane Lamare, who is a well-known member of our fellowship. There may have been others, but our memories are hazy!
The Pontypridd branch closed, and the World church group was dormant for a while, but was revived and its name changed to Justice and Peace Group.
A challenge in Amnesty’s Magazine saying “Turn your used stamps into vital funds to support human rights around the world”, was accepted and still continues today with Carol Powell now being responsible for preparing the stamps and sending them to Amnesty.
Even though we don’t receive as much mail with stamps on these days we encourage you to cut the complete stamp off the envelope leaving a border around it and put them in the box on the bookcase in the church and the tradition will continue!

Thought for the Week
If you are not getting as much from life as you want to,
then examine the state of your enthusiasm.
