29th October 2023

Welcome everyone!  If you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time, we hope you will feel the warmth of our welcome and return again soon.

We are very pleased to welcome Maggie Kirkbride who is leading our service today. This is a first for her.

Maggie is Lay Preaching Advocate for URC Wales Synod and took part in the ‘release from duty’ service for Rev Simon Walkling, that was held on August 4th.

We pray that, through her and with her, we may be made aware of God’s message to us all.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • The arrangements for the funeral of Marilyn Dilworth have been confirmed as, Monday 13th November 2.15 at Glyntaf. Rev Dr Phil Wall officiating. Followed by refreshments at The Hawthorn Inn
  • A number of our fellowship have had appointments postponed because of other health problems, others are currently trying to cope with painful joints or are waiting for results of tests. We think of them and those who are concerned for them.
  • We give thanks for ‘good’ news and we remember those for whom news has not been so good.

St David’s Guild

Last week we didn’t get to find out how YMa links up with the community as they went to the wrong church! Their visit will be rescheduled for the new year.   BUT we were extremely grateful to Robert who stood in as speaker at 5 minutes notice, and we had a very interesting afternoon learning about Yevonde, an English photographer, who pioneered the use of colour in portrait photography, she was born in1893 in London. Her career lasted over 60 years.

This week we will be looking at Ynysangharad Memorial Park, how it has changed and is changing. The Park celebrated its centenary this year.

Böbingen Windband Concert

For the bands Musical Director, Jonathan Rhys Thomas, it is a return to his home town! The band last gave a concert in the church over 20 years ago. Some of the band remember the visit! The band has 45 active musicians aged between 15 and 78 years, their repertoire includes concert music, film and pop music, as well as traditional Bohemian and Moravian brass music like march and polka.

The concert is free, (although there is a non-obligatory collection for Church Funds) it will finish by 7.30pm.

Two or three people will be needed as stewards, anyone who can help please speak to Iestyn, Liz or Lynda.
