23rd July 2023

We extend a warm welcome to everyone who joins us for worship today, especially if you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time.

We are pleased to welcome Revd. Owen Griffiths, Minister for South East Wales Presbytery. This will be Owen’s first visit as our Guest preacher and we look forward to hearing his message to us. today. The service will include the celebration of Holy Communion, and all are welcome to partake of the bread and wine.

Following the service, we invite you to join us in the hall for a time of informal fellowship, when you will also have a chance to peruse the handmade cards that will be on sale.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • We are sorry to hear that Hilary spent a short time in hospital but, thankful that she is now home. we
  • Brian is pleased to be home after a week in hospital and hopes to join us in church soon.
  • We continue to keep Maralyn in our thoughts as she prepares for Uncle George’s funeral.
  • We hear that Sue Skym has a torn muscle/ ligament. We hope that she will soon be pain free.
  • We have missed Hywel Jones and Jen Edwards from our services, they are both recovering from cataract operations and therefor are unable to drive. We hold them both in our prayers as they recover
  • We think of Gwyneth as she makes her routine visit to Guy’s hospital in London.

Birthdays…..Celebrations

We have two birthdays this week:  Nathan Hughes, one of our loyal couriers, will be celebrating on Thursday 27th and Sue Ruck has her birthday on Saturday 29th.  We also have another ‘big’ event ~ Madeleine and Ron are celebrating their Diamond (60th) Wedding anniversary on Monday 24th July.      Congratulations to you both!

Thanks

Brian wishes to thank everyone for their concern during his recent hospital stay. It is comforting to know that so many people care and he is very grateful.

Last Sunday we had cause to give thanks to two Good Samaritans.  As Viviane was providing transport to Ray who was leading our worship at short notice, the car had a puncture! The first ‘Samaritan’ gave Ray a lift to the church, leaving Viviane to get the car fixed.  The second ‘Samaritan’ helped Viviane get to a garage, where she got the tyre fixed and was able to join us for the service, all be it a little late.  We give thanks to, and for, these unknown Samaritans. We were truly blessed.

Thought for the Week

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
