Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall following the morning service. We invite you to join us for this time of informal fellowship and take time to look at the handmade cards which are on sale.
The service will be live streamed – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1ftWuXHexnfFdo1FKwXBZA

Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the news sheet to inform our prayers.
- Gareth returned home last weekend, the news they received was not good, the diagnosis is Cancer. We hold Pat and Gareth in our prayers as they face the future with the support of their family and friends.
- Phil and Jan visited Martha and are pleased to say she is much better although still in Llwynypia hospital. They spent a pleasant hour with her.
- We continue to keep Heather and the family in our prayers as they adjust to life without Jeff.
- We think of all our Castle Square friends, and Phil, as he leads their last Communion service in the church. It will be an emotional time.
- There a several people who are waiting for tests and tests results or a date for an operation. We keep them, and their families in our thoughts.
- Ann Powell is still not well but has managed to get out a few times with her daughter.
- Susan and Huw Thomas have succumbed to Covid; Susan is at a loss to know how they picked it up!
- We think of the Elders as they have two meetings which will focus on the future of our church life.

Please Support Pam and Pipal Tree!
Pam Mahoney has been walking and raising much needed funds for “Pipal Tree” A charity in Nepal that rescues women and girls from trafficking and giving them the skills to enable them to work in the community. The walk is 400 km (almost 250 miles) mirroring a walk being undertaken on the Pennine Way, Pam has been doing it over time! There is a sign-up sheet for any donations at the back of the church.
If you missed the appeal last week, it’s not too late! The envelopes for the PCW quinquennial appeal –‘Seeds of Hope’ – which supports Christian Aid’s work for climate justice in Kenya, are at the back of the church, if you wish to gift aid your donation, please put your name on the envelope.
Riding Lights take on the bible in Wales
St Catherine’s – 4th October – 7:30pm – £8
Riding Lights is raring to take you on a whirlwind trip through this No.1 best-selling library and out the other side into 2022!
It’s that adventurous middle eastern trip you’ve always craved – starting in the gorgeous gardens of Eden (an area of outstanding natural beauty) and ascending via any number of historic people, heritage sites and blockbusting stories about men, women and God. Before finishing with an amazing wide-screen glimpse into the end of time.
Hold onto your seats and enjoy vivid extracts exploding into action as the Word gets down to Earth and mixes it with human beings. There’s wit, wisdom, faith and folly, as well as… a remarkable Welsh gift to the world.
In classic Riding Lights style, with vitality, respect and moments of glorious humour, you will be treated to jewels from the big book, as well as less familiar gems from parts that perplex or inspire the church today.
St David’s Guild
At last! Our Guild meetings are back to meeting weekly. We recommence for the Autumn this Wednesday 5th October at 2pm. An interesting programme has been planned. We have a mix of Guest speakers, (Phil on October 19th) ‘Fun Afternoons’, and topical events. Come along to our first ‘back to normal’ meeting and enjoy an afternoon with friends. New people will be most welcome.
Cardiff Half Marathon
Four people we know will be pounding the streets of Cardiff today while we are in church!
Iestyn, Liz and Alison from St David’s are running. Alison is raising funds for British Heart Foundation, her target was £500, she already has £849 – can we help her get to £1000? This is the link. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Alison-Jones115?utm_
She hopes to do it in under 3 hours. It took her 3hrs 13mins in 2019….and she’s 4 years older! We wish them well!
Matt from Castle Square is our other runner, we don’t know if he is supporting a charity or just running for the fun of it! He hopes to join his friends at The Otley for lunch when he has finished. Good luck Matt.
