13th October 2024
We welcome everyone to our service today, whether you are in the sanctuary, in your homes or will watch later on YouTube. We trust you will find the service inspiring.
This Sunday marks the start of Prisons Week – a time when faith communities are invited to pray for the needs of all those affected by prisons: including the many people who are involved in caring for those affected by crime on the inside and outside of our prisons.
This ZOOM service is being led by Phil, who hopes to give us more insight into the lives of children who have been incarcerated for their offences. There will be a dedicated ‘Question and response’ part of the service, so do have a think whether there are any questions that you’d like to ask Phil about his workplace or ministry.
As we light the candle in church Phil will be giving people time to light their own candles at home.
We remind you that we are experimenting with today’s Zoom service, please bear with us if we have any technical problems.
All are welcome to stay and chat following the service when handmade cards will be on sale in the hall.

What an excellent meeting last week! We learnt a lot about the music composed by Bernard Herrmann, and also the sound effects that he used in films directed by Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Wells. Herrmann also influenced John Williams who composed the music for films by Stephen Spielberg. The film clips were most enjoyable!
This week we learn about the work of The Samaritans with ‘Martin’

Prisoners’ Week Prayer
Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the actions of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in his strength and in his Spirit, now and every day. Amen
Thought for the week
A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than knowledge that is idle.
Kahil Gibran 1883-1931
Thank you all for your concerns regarding my family during the recent hurricane . They were very lucky to have escaped almost unscathed unlike some who were very badly affected.
