11th February 2024

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, either live on Zoom or later on YouTube, or, for those who don’t have internet access or prefer ‘live’ worship there is an alternative in person service at Gelliwastad Road.

The Zoom chat room will open at 10.30, when you can have a pre-service chat, before Rev Ray Vincent leads our worship.

The service in Gelliwastad Road will start at 10.45  and will be led by Michael Howells.

Whichever service you join we hope that you will feel the warmth of fellowship with friends.

Good News

We are delighted to pass on the news that Phil George of Canton Uniting, Cardiff, was awarded a CBE at the 2023 New Years Honours for his service to the arts.  Phil has served as Chair of the Arts Council of Wales and the National Theatre of Wales. Phil was always a welcome guest preacher at St David’s until his health made him stop. We send our Congratulations and good wishes for his continuing good health.

Pam, is delighted that two of her grandsons, Gruff and Tal, have won their respective age group piano solo competitions and will be representing their schools and the county at the Urdd national Eisteddfod in Welshpool at the end of May.             (Naturally, along with parents Mamgu is chuffed!! )

St David’s Guild

We had an enjoyable time at Alfreds last week, the meal was OK although the service left a lot to be desired!

This week our meeting will focus on food as Paige Jennings from RCT will enlighten us on RCT’s Food Partnership which has won a prestigious national Sustainable Food Places (SFP) Bronze Award. The award recognises the excellent community partnership work undertaken throughout the County Borough to promote healthy, sustainable, and local food. Additionally, the award highlights the Council’s commitment to addressing significant social challenges such as food poverty, diet-related illnesses, the decline of family farms, and the loss of independent food retailers.  Which part we will learn about will be a surprise!!

 Event at the Chaplaincy

‘The University Chaplaincy warmly invites you to the final session in its series ‘Gender, Sexuality and Faith’ on Thursday 15th February at the Meeting House at 1.00 pm. The Revd Sarah Jones of St John’s, Cardiff, who is a transgender woman, will open a discussion about trans issues, and a representative of Welsh Government will be talking about its LGBTQ+ Action Plan for Wales and how people of faith can relate to it. If you intend to come, please contact Ray.’
