The Family and FriPhotograph of Cyril as a young manends of Cyril Davies, who passed away on 27th August at the age of 97 were finally able to gather to say farewell on Friday 17th October. The Service was held at Temple Baptist, with Peter Roberts officiating.  Cyril had asked for the service to be held there as although he was a member of the Fellowship of St David’s, having joined Carmel Baptist Church (one of our parent Churches) in 1968, because of poor health he had never worshipped with us in Treforest. It was a service with the hymns and readings all chosen by Cyril.

His remaining daughter, Rosemary and Granddaughter, Hannah shared their memories of Cyril.  Peter Roberts also shared memories of Cyril, as he was well known to the people at Temple as his late daughter Janet was a member there and he used to join them for coffee after their service while waiting for Janet.

  • We remember those who are currently awaiting medical tests or test results.
  • We think of those who are feeling under the weather with bugs at the moment and hope they all feel better soon.

Community Events

The Park Ramblers meet at 10.15am every Monday outside B&M for a walk around our beautiful park, followed by coffee in The Blueberry.  This is an ad hoc arrangement and all are welcome to join the walkers at their own pace.  If the weather is very bad they may just head straight to The Blueberry!! What could be better than having a walk, a chat and a coffee to start the week off on a good note. 😊

Cardiff Astronomical Society are celebrating 50 years with an exhibition at the Museum of Cardiff, The Hayes, Cardiff. The exhibition is open 10am-4pm until Friday 31st October. Entry is free.

These are just four pictures on display taken by our own talented Astronomer, Stephen. There is also a video presentation with many more fantastic photographs. The exhibition showcases what they do, including regular talks, outreach events and star and solar gazing at their observatory in Dyffryn Gardens. The exhibition also displays objects from the historic Penylan Observatory, Cardiff’s city Observatory, that was closed in 1979.

Pontypridd and District Art Society

John Attwood and Terry Powell both belong to the Pontypridd and District Art Society who are currently holding their annual exhibition at Pontypridd Museum until 1 November.  Entry is free and all are welcome to pop in and have a look at the exhibition.
