We will also celebrate communion together.

What happened in September:

Clare’s first Service  – 28th September 2025– What a fantastic service!  We were delighted to welcome Clare, and her husband David to St David’s for Clare’s first service as ‘OUR’ minister. It was not her first visit to St David’s as we had the privilege of hosting the ‘Preach with a View‘ service for the  Minister of the Valleys Pastorate on 26 March 2025.  We have been without a Minister since October 2022, so this was indeed a day of celebration.

During the service Clare welcomed Jan, Emily, Gill, Buffie, Diane, Terry and Annette as members of St David’s Uniting Church and inducted two returning elders: Ray and Iestyn.

In the week before the service Clare had taken time to speak, either in person or by phone, to each of the people who were to be received into membership. We celebrated the Lords Supper and Clare served our new members and the returning Elders, before the congregation were served by the Elders.

Hymns:

17 All people that on earth do dwell;

153 Give me joy in my heart

73 Brother, sister let me serve you

15 All my hope on God is founded

Readings: Psalm 146 & 1 Timothy Ch. 6 were read by Emily and Jan

Blessing:  Let us go with hearts and eyes open to the needs of the world and feet that feel the earth beneath us. And as we are blessed with belonging so may we enfold others in God’s community of care. And may the blessing of God, Creator, Christ and Comforter, be with you and those you love, and those whom you struggle to love, now and forever. Amen.

We gathered in the hall following the service for a time of informal fellowship, where Clare and David were able to chat before returning home.  As Minister of the Valleys Pastorate has spent her first month visiting each of her four Churches. Having finally got to St David’s she has discovered that there are many people in all congregations who are or have been employed in Education!

We have exciting times ahead as we get to know each other!
