St David’s Uniting Church Monthly Magazine – January 2026

December 27, 2025 / Alison Jones / News

What’s happening in January:

Language classes are held on Monday mornings at 10am in the Hall.

St David’s Guild is held at the Museum on Wednesdays at 2pm.  There will be no Guild on Wednesday 7 January but it will resume on Wednesday 14 January 2026.   All are welcome to join in and experience the pleasure and joy of this mid-week fellowship. Refreshments are always served.

Wednesday 14: Mrs Dawn Porter – ‘Happy Boots’. Our first speaker of the New Year, Mrs Dawn Porter, worked for Pontypridd Town Council for a few years and developed the community garden in Meadow Street, Treforest. She now has developed her business ‘Happy Boots’ and will talk about her work which is working and speaking with groups on using horticulture for well-being and health.

Wednesday 21:   Mr Wil Morus Jones – Walks in Pontypridd.

Mr Jones, now retired from his position as headmaster of Ysgol Evan James sent this message…..

‘Pontypridd is a town with a unique historical past, not only a story within its boundaries but a story that relates to the story of our nation and beyond. I’ll take you on a pictorial walk around town without having to move from your seats’

‘Mae Pontypridd yn dref â gorffenol hanesyddol unigryw, nid yn unig stori o fewn ei ffiniau ond stori sy’n ymwneud â stori ein cenedl a thu hwnt. Byddaf wrth fy modd  yn mynd â chi ar daith cerdded ddarluniadol o amgylch y dref heb orfod symud o’ch seddi’

Wednesday 28:  1950’s Childhood – Marcia Hurley and Marilyn Leach will both be giving an illustrated talk on growing up in the 1950s – from home and school life to outside and indoor games, hobbies and pastimes. They are sure to awaken many memories of that decade. Who can forget cold rooms, tin baths and outside toilets!
