They say a picture’s worth a thousand words … Saint David’s Uniting Church, Gelliwastad Road, invites you to help us explore what “Our Community” means to individuals and groups in and around Pontypridd: what are its needs, its assets, its beauty, its history and what could or should be done to enhance its image and improve its life. As a first step we invite you to participate in a photographic event where individuals or groups submit a photograph which encapsulates what “our Community” means to them.
Your contribution may be as simple as one photograph, or you may as a group decide you would like to present a series or collage of photographs. Your contributions will form a public exhibition at the church during the month of March 2014 which will include workshops, discussions and light refreshments. There will be prizes for the best exhibits contributed by children. We invite you to show us what Pontypridd looks like to you:
- What you love about Ponty
- What we should be celebrating
- What’s strong about our community
- Its weaknesses
- What worries, upsets or disturbs you about it
Your photo might be a picture of:
- a person
- a group of people
- people at work or at play
- people in trouble or in need
- people in the middle of their problems – or their achievements
- an event
- a club, a choir or a team
- a place or building
The invitation is to:
- individuals
- clubs and organisations
- schools
- churches
There will be a prize for:
- the best individual photograph
- the best display by a school or youth group
How to submit your entry
Please send your entry to Mrs. Pam Mahoney, 1, The Paddocks, Upper Church Village, Pontypridd, CF38 1TL by November 29th 2013.Please send both a print and an electronic version (e-mail or memory card). E mail communication should be to [email protected]
If your contribution is a very large picture or arrangement of pictures, please consult us beforehand in case there are problems about the space available.
Remember to be careful about the ethics: DO NOT SEND PICTURES OF PEOPLE UNLESS YOU HAVE THEIR PERMISSION.
We hope the exhibition will present an honest portrait of the community “warts and all”, but we reserve the right not to display a picture if we consider it offensive or inappropriate.
