9th March 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, either in person or online, as we gather for the first Sunday in Lent.

Our guest preacher today is Rev Owen Griffiths who will enlighten us with a message using Isaiah 55 as his source, we pray that we will find peace and fellowship as he leads us.

All are invited to join us for tea or coffee, which will be served in the hall following the service, when handmade cards, including Easter cards, will also be on sale.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week:

  • We think of those of our church family who are currently in hospital either waiting for scan results or to be discharged.
  • We sadly report that Marion Mansell passed away on Monday at the age of 94. Marion was a loyal and hard-working member of Castle Sq having helped at ‘Chewsdays’ until the age of 87. We remember those of our fellowship who knew and worked with Marion and will miss her, in our prayers.
  • People who are coping with stressful family situations and the possible outcomes.
  • We remember those who are unable to leave their homes and are finding life a challenge

Birthdays

People we know who have birthdays this week are: Monday 10th March – Ugo Agunwa, Tuesday 11th March – Pat Cooke, and on Friday 14th March, Margaret Wicks will celebrate being 90! Congratulations Margaret! We hope you are all able to celebrate.

Thanks:

Pam would like to thank everyone for the cards and good wishes she received for her birthday”

St David’s Guild

Kath and Dave gave us a wonderful afternoon last Wednesday. They harmonise so well together and sang songs from the fifties and sixties (with Dave on the guitar of course). Songs by Buddy Holly, Neil Sedaka and Don Gibson were in their repertoire and because we are, more or less, of a certain age we knew some of the songs and were invited to sing along with them. It was just lovely to sit back, let the music flow over us and appreciate their artistry. It was good to have them back after a two-year hiatus. Thank you both very much.

This week Marilyn Leach will give an illustrated talk on her visit to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial in S. Dakota, USA.

Visit of Mick Antoniw

The Justice and Peace group have invited Mick Antoniw to visit so that we can ask questions about the issues that matter most to us. All are welcome to attend the meeting which will be at 6 pm in the church on In order to have a structure for the event could you submit any questions/observations you may have to Pam before Tuesday 11th March. Please come along as this is an opportunity for your voice to be heard in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Thought for the Week

“During these 40 days, let me put away all my pride.

Let me change my heart and give up all that is not good within me.

Let me love God with all that I am and all that I have.”
