8th June 2025
We welcome everyone who joins us for our monthly Zoom service, as we celebrate Pentecost, whether you are in the comfort of your homes, in the sanctuary at Treforest or elsewhere.
The link for the service is above and the service will start at 10.30, please log-in from 10.15am
We are pleased that once again we are joining the congregation of Christ Well URC, Swansea, where a former minister of St David’s Uniting church, Revd. Simon Walkling is the minister and we look forward to this time of fellowship together.
Refreshments will be available following the morning service for those in Treforest and the chat rooms will be open for those on Zoom. We encourage you to stay and chat with friends.

Pastoral Matters
We only include names when permission has been given.
- Many will have already heard that Doreen Richards-Clarke passed away on Tuesday. Doreen was well known to the folk of St David’s PCW as she was the wife of their former Minister, Alvan. Doreen was a lovely, gentle lady who many will remember fondly. We hold the family in our prayers.
- We have missed some people from worship lately; we look forward to welcoming them back soon.
- We think of those for whom this time of year holds sad memories
- We are sorry to learn that another of our older members is in hospital, but hopes to be home soon.
Birthdays & Anniversaries
There are just 2 people that we are aware of with birthdays this week:
Alison Jones will be celebrating on Wednesday 11th June and Clair Bevan on Thursday 12th June (and it’s a big one!) Take it easy ladies but enjoy yourselves!
Belated congratulations to Mo & Paul who celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary on June 1st.
Thanks….
Many thanks to everyone for the flowers, gifts, cards, phone calls, messages, visits and offers of help! They have been much appreciated. I hope to join you in church again soon. Marcia
Sharing Good News
What better birthday present could John wish for? Jean was discharged from hospital after 18 weeks, just in time to join John for his 90th birthday celebrations! They are delighted to be together again!

Nominations for Elders
Liz Henson and Pam Mahoney will be finishing as Elders at the AGM. We are grateful for all they have done in the past years. There are two places available and the new elders will be affirmed at the AGM on Monday 30th June. Nomination forms are available TODAY and need to be returned by 15th June.
Refugee Week
This year we will once again be supporting Refugee Week which takes places between 16th – 22nd June. There are a number of ways in which you can be involved and show your support.
On 18th June, we will be hosting a ‘bring & share lunch’ in collaboration with RCT, Valleys Ethnic Minority Support, DPIA and Migrant Help. Come along, bring something to eat and find out more about what is being done to support refugees and asylum seekers in Wales.
Then on 21st June, we will be supporting the Community is Superpower event which will be held in town, in the Mill St Quarter from 11:30am. We are encouraged to bake cakes and share international recipes (Welsh cakes, anyone?), volunteer to help out or just come along. In the evening there will be some poetry reading and hopefully a short film or two about Gaza.
For more information about both events, speak to Catherine, Margaret, Pam or Viviane.
During this event there will be the launch of a ‘new’ Pontypridd Fairtrade Group when there will be a Fairtrade stall and further information about the group. Speak to Kath and Phil to learn more.
PONT 20th Anniversary
Many churches and church members in and around Pontypridd have supported PONT or even travelled to Uganda on missions.
Twenty years on, we are celebrating excellent outcomes in a range of areas that help lift vulnerable families, women and children out of poverty, including areas such as: Community health care & mental health, Ambulances, Education, Livelihoods, Engineering, Environment, as well as Wildlife Education.
Whether you have been part of the PONT family from the beginning or whether you have joined us more recently, we thank you for your wonderful support. For more information speak to Phil and Kath.
Can YOU help?
As we approach the holiday season is anyone able to offer transport to Church on Sunday mornings. If you have empty seats in your car and can help, please speak to Viviane or Lynda.
We now have calculated the Gift-Aid on for this year’s donations for Christan Aid week.
It is £197. This makes our final total including £115 from the sale of cakes, £1,172.00

Thought for the Week
When you strip it of everything else, Pentecost stands for power and life.
That’s what came into the church when the Holy Spirit came down on the day of Pentecost.
