6th July 2025

We extend a warm welcome to everyone who joins us for worship today, whether in person or via live-stream, and especially if you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time.

We are very pleased that Revd. Dr Jeff Crittenden is once again leading our worship today. Jeff lectures at theological colleges in both Alberta, Canada and in Cardiff.

We pray that, through his ministry, we may all receive the blessing that we most need.

Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall following the service. We invite you to join us for this time of informal fellowship when handmade cards will be available.

Diary for the Week

Monday 7th                            Language Class in the Hall at 10.00am

The Park Ramblers meet to walk at 10.15 followed by coffee in The Blueberry.

Sunday 13th                Our Zoom Service at 10.45am will be led by Revd Ray Vincent.

Pastoral Matters

We only include names when permission has been given.

  • Pat has been very unwell again this week and has had to have several visits to the doctors, A&E and also to the Ophthalmology department, she is however hoping to be in church this weekend.
  • Please remember those of our fellowship for whom this week holds sad memories.
  • We think of those who are confined to their homes and give thanks for those who care for them.
  • We continue hold the family, and especially the friends, of Gwenllian in our thoughts as they wait to say their final goodbye later this month.

Birthdays

There are no birthdays that we are aware of this week.

Good News

‘Every blessing to Claire’s great-nephew, Simon, on his Ordination as Priest within the Church of England, last Saturday 28th June. He will continue his work within the Oxford diocese, at the same church in Newbury, where he began his ordained mission, following his Ordination as Deacon last year. ‘

Thanks…..

I want to say a big thank you to all my church friends who have marked my birthday with good wishes, cards, gifts, flowers and plants. It has made my birthday more special. Merci encore and Diolch.          Viviane

…….My thanks to everyone for their good wishes on my birthday last week.                     Claire

Sheila wishes to thank everyone for cards, flowers and messages received for her 90th – she is still celebrating and has had to borrow vases! She is very touched by everyone’s kindness.

Future Services

July 20th     Worship Group         July 27th      Revd Aled Edwards              Aug 3rd      Iestyn Henson

News from the Annual General Meeting

Retiring Elders Pam and Liz were thanked for their extended years of service and Iestyn and Ray were affirmed to serve as Elders for a period of three years.

All current officers agreed to continue in their roles and thanks were expressed to them.

Pattern of Ministry

During September Clare will lead worship in each church to introduce herself, we will have that pleasure on September 28th.

During her first year Clare will spend a block of time in each church in order to get to know the congregations and the area.

The four blocks will be:          October to Advent   ~   January to Lent   ~   Easter to end of May      ~

June to end of August will be ‘OUR’ block

Advent and Christmas services plus Lent and Easter services will be led in each church ~ dates TBA.

During the ‘block’ in one church Clare will be available for specific things in the other churches. e.g.  Church Meetings, Elders’ meetings. Weddings, Funerals, essential pastoral visits.

Clare and the family will hopefully, relocate to The Manse, Pontypridd at the end of the school year in 2026.

Other News

Volunteers are still needed to produce and print the news sheet, and to look after hiring out the hall.

Anyone who is willing to read in the service is asked to contact Viviane, and if you would be willing to make and serve coffee on Sunday mornings, please speak to Liz.

We were delighted to learn that we will be welcoming six people into our fellowship later in the year.

As it will be a while before the new elders’ lists will be issued, we were asked to care for each other.

We will have a year to carry out the refurbishment of the Manse.

A Message from the Editor

Following the AGM as no one has volunteered to take on responsibility for the newsletter and as we are in an important time in the life of our church preparing for the arrival of Clare as our Minister, I felt it was unfair not to keep people informed of ‘news’. The newsletter will continue in its present form until 28th Sept.

As we go forward either with or without a news sheet my concern is for those people without access to the internet and who are unable to attend worship. Their only contact is through their Elders / Buddies and the weekly newsletter which our loyal couriers deliver every week. We were encouraged at the AGM to ‘care for each other’. The occasional phone call would let them know they are still part of our church family.

Thought for the Week
