3rd November 2024

Welcome everyone! If this is your first visit to St David’s in Castle Street, Treforest, we hope you will feel the warmth of our welcome and join us again.

We are very fortunate in having an active and talented worship group in our church: they are leading our worship today using resources made available through the URC website.

We pray for us all a time of rich blessing, but also of challenge, as they lead our worship today.

Tea and coffee will be available in the hall following the service, we encourage you to join us for this time of informal fellowship and peruse the various posters as well as the handmade cards.

St David’s Guild

What a wonderful afternoon we had when Margaret’s brother, Steve, told us about his musical career and played his beautiful viola. He said that it had been a privilege to have played under the batonship of some of world famous conductors such as Solti and Haitink and when great opera singers such as Pavarotti and René Fleming graced the stage. He has played all over the world in prestigious venues.

We were privileged to hear Steve play. He opened with a traditional Welsh folk song, Bugeilio’r Gwenith Gwyn but in his retirement, besides conducting the Gwent Chamber orchestra, has taken up playing swing jazz. He ended the afternoon by playing a jazz ballad and a jazz-up tempo swing. A super end to a fantastic afternoon.

This week Jill and Wynford Price will be telling us about their work at Daerwynno Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Llanwonno.

Thought for the Week

To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
