30th March 2025

This Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent and Mothering Sunday, AND we have had one hour less in bed!!

We welcome everyone who joins us for our service today whether in person, on line, or later on YouTube

We give a special welcome to Rev Martin Spain who is leading our service today which will include the celebration of the Lords Supper. All are invited to share the bread and wine with us.

We pray for us all a time of rich blessing, but also of challenge, as Martin leads us.

There is a Church Meeting after the service to vote on whether we call Clare to be our minister. Also to receive recommendations from the Elders re new members and elders, please make sure you have a pen!

Pastoral Prayers

We can only include names in the newsletter with express permission:

  • We think of those who have been in hospital for a long time and haven’t been able to see their spouse.
  • People who are waiting for scan results or appointments.
  • Those of our fellowship or connected to it who have memory problems and those who care for them.
  • The ‘Open the Book’ Team as they share The Triumphal Entry story with the pupils at Coed y Lan
  • The churches of our Pastorate as they meet today to cast their votes for our future minister.

Thanks

Catherine has received a message of thanks from Imane Nasreddine Assad at Ahla Fawda in Lebanon, who we supported as our international charity last Christmas. She says ’thank you so much for your kind donation to Ahla Fawda. Your support means a lot and is appreciated. On behalf of every person who benefited from your kind donation, thank you and God bless.’

St David’s Guild

Last Wednesday Robert gave us a wonderful PowerPoint on one of his favourite hobbies…..railways.  2025 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway.

The Stockton and Darlington Railway opened on September 27th, 1825 and so in 2025 Railway 200 celebrates the past, present and future of rail.  Robert took us on a journey through the centuries to show how trains have developed up until the present day. Rail has had a remarkable past but also has great importance in a sustainable future. Thank you, Robert, for a superb afternoon.

This Wednesday Terry Powell will give us an illustrate talk on WW1.

Thought for the Week

Our future will be shaped by the assumptions we make about who we are and what we can be.
