2nd March 2025

We welcome you all to our fifth hybrid service today whether you are joining us online or later on YouTube.

We have experienced problems with the previous services, and we hope that all will go well today. The service can be viewed in the Sanctuary or via ZOOM in the comfort of your homes. Our own Rev Ray Vincent will be leading the service today and his Theme is “Listen to him”

We pray that, through him, we may be made aware of God’s message to us all.

Tea and Coffee will be served in the Hall following the service and Handmade cards, for ALL occasions will be available in the hall.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week:

  • We are sorry to learn that Anne Edwards was admitted to RGH last weekend after a fall, she is still there
  • We heard on Friday that Marion Mansell, a former Castle Sq member who is now in a residential home is very poorly. We got to know Marion during Covid as she looked forward to receiving the newsletter.
  • We are pleased to hear that Stephanie was discharged from hospital on Thursday
  • We think of Jean Davies who is still in hospital and for John who is missing her being at home.
  • We remember our Elders who have a meeting on Sunday evening. (see below)
  • People who are in hospital and waiting for arrangements to be in place before they can be discharged.

St David’ Guild

What a lovely afternoon we all had in guild last Wednesday when Caryl Williams outlined her long musical career as well as singing and playing her guitar. As a member of Y Triban she told us of some of the highlights of her career…recording for EMI at their famous Abbey Rd studios; being in a number of Gren cartoons; being Max Boyce’s warm-up act for many years and singing in a Royal Command performance in the New Theatre. A very busy life while holding down a full-time job. Diolch yn fawr Caryl.

Another musical treat is in store for us this week when we welcome back the stalwart duo of our very own Kath and Dave. We are looking forward very much to this afternoon.

Foodbank Appeal

We have supported the Pontypridd Foodbank many years. In December 2022 they moved to new premises in Nile Street.

They are appealing to their supporters for one-off donations to their building fund as they have recently begun a programme of works to improve and upgrade the building so that it is greener and cleaner, and is used in the best way possible to meet the needs of our clients and the community. The cost will be around £240,000. They have some funding from RCT Council, and are applying for grant funding from a number of different sources, including the Trussell Network.

  • Donate in cash or cheque, please put your donation in an envelope and mark it PROJECT. And place in the box. Cheques made payable to Pontypridd Foodbank
