29th September 2024

We welcome you all to our service today, especially if you are worshipping with us for the first time.

Iestyn Henson is leading our service, and we will celebrate Harvest and reflect on the Parable of the Sower.

Envelopes are available for donations (cash only) for our Harvest Appeal for the Pontypridd Foodbank, if you wish to gift aid the donation please write your name on the envelope.

At Iestyn’s request tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the service. Handmade cards will be on sale. Please join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week:

  • The Elders as they meet this Sunday to look at the way forward for future ministry and beginning to plan activities at St David’s Uniting Church, Treforest
  • Pam and Viviane as they are both going into hospital on Monday for operations. We hope all goes to plan for them and that they recover as quick as is possible.
  • John and Jean are both reasonably well and were pleased to be visited.
  • Elsie is to have an injection in her knee which will hopefully ease her pain.

After service refreshments.

We recognise the importance of getting to know one another which is why we offer tea and coffee as a chance to chat and catch up. Do YOU like staying and chatting with friends over a ‘cuppa’? At the moment we only do this twice a month. Would you like this to be more frequent?

If the answer to these questions is YES, would you be willing to volunteer? If so. please speak to Liz or Catherine today.

Nobody in our community should have to face going hungry. Which is why the Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

We have a collecting box for monetary donations.

Used Postage Stamps

We collect stamps for Amnesty International, so please check your mail, cut off the stamps – leaving a small border – and put them in the box by the Copper Pot. Please remember the barcode is part of the stamp.

Please remember the Copper Pot, which is by the Clavinola, and put your loose change in it before you leave, it will be used to benefit local charities.

Leprosy

The Autumn edition of New Day the magazine of the Leprosy Mission is available today. Please pick one up by the main door. There are many interesting articles in it.

Thought for the week

Life is not made up of great sacrifices and duties
but of little things in which smiles and kindness given habitually
are what win and preserve the heart and secure comfort.

Sir Humphrey Davy (1778-1829) English Chemist and Inventor
