28th July 2024

We give a warm welcome to everyone who joins us for worship today, either in person or on line. If you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time, we hope you will return again soon.

We are pleased to welcome once again Maggie Kirkbride, the Lay Preaching Advocate for URC Wales Synod as our worship leader today.

The service will include the celebration of the Lord’s Supper which will be led by Rev Ray Vincent. All are invited to share in the bread and wine.

As usual a good selection of handmade cards are available to purchase. Orders can be given to Colleen.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • We continue to hold, John Henson, and the family in our prayers as they say Farewell to Valerie. A Service of Thanksgiving for Valerie’s life will be held on Friday 2nd August at St David’s Uniting Church at 2pm.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bright colours are preferred. Charitable donations may be made to Christian Aid. Refreshments will be served in the hall following the service.
  • We give thanks that all went well with Dave’s operation and he adjusting to a different lifestyle. with Kath supporting him.
  • We keep John and Jean Davies in our thoughts as they cope with life.
  • We think of the former members of Porth URC who gathered last Thursday for the funeral of Pat Carpenter, their organist for many years.
  • We think of those who are frustrated by the postponement of planned operations.

Competing choirs will be rehearsing in ‘our’ church at varying times during the week starting on Saturday. Stewards are required for a maximum of 4 hours, (but can share with others) at different times each day.  A sign-up sheet with the actual times is on the table.

We are required to welcome the choirs and make sure they have their allotted time for rehearsing, so we will have an opportunity to listen to them.
