25th May 2025

We welcome everyone to our service today whether in person or via live-stream.

We extend a special welcome to Revd. Dr. Jeff Crittenden who is leading our service today which will include the celebration of the Lords Supper and all are invited to share the bread and wine with us.

We pray that as Jeff leads us, we may all know the joy of worship in God’s presence, and experience the challenge of his word to us.

Jeff is a pastor and scholar who has served churches across Canada and is currently the pastor of St Andrew’s in Toronto. He also lectures at theological colleges in both Canada and Cardiff.

We are also delighted to welcome Jeff’s wife Katherine has accompanied him on this visit to Wales

We will NOT be serving refreshments after today’s service.

  • We are pleased to say that Marlene and Beti are both improving and Marlene hopes to see us soon.
  • We think of those in hospital and pray for them and those who care for them.
  • We remember all those of our fellowship who are no longer able to worship with us.

Sharing Good News

We are pleased to say that Renda’s baby has arrived! It’s a boy, he was born just before midday on Wednesday 21st. A brother for Nova. All are well.

Birthdays

We have three ladies celebrating their birthdays this week: – Jayne Bright and Margaret Morris both on Thursday 29th May and Deborah Jones on Saturday 31st May. Enjoy your celebrations ladies!

Thanks….

I count myself lucky to have such a wonderful ‘church’ family; So many people have helped me while my own family were away.  I can’t thank you enough; I didn’t have to worry about being alone at night or getting to appointments. I am very grateful for all the offers of help, the good wishes and cards I’ve received.

Your support is much appreciated. Love and God Bless you all.      Beti

Nominations for Elders

The Elders are an important part of our church. Without them we would not be able to meet as we do. We wouldn’t have the support and care of the ‘church family’ that we love.

Liz Henson and Pam Mahoney will be finishing as Elders at the AGM. We are grateful for all they have done in the past years.

Nomination forms for two places on the eldership are available TODAY. Please contact your elder/pastoral buddy if you are unable to pick one up. Those with email addresses for will receive a nomination slip by email by during the week or you can pick up a form today.

Here’s the t’s and c’s…!

Current eldership: Lynda Bull, Anne Coles, Liz Henson, Claire Hughes, Viviane Lamare, Catherine Naamani, Pam Mahoney, Colleen Rowan, Maralyn Tomlinson, Bethan Walkling.

All St. David’s Uniting Church members can nominate any other church member whom they deem to have the gifts and graces to serve God through church eldership. More than one name can be given and neither a seconder, nor the permission of the person you’re nominating needs to be sought. Please take some time to prayerfully consider people who you think could fulfil the role of Elder.

All forms must be received by 15th June. The new elders will be affirmed at the AGM on Monday 30th June.

Today is your last opportunity to donate to this year’s Christian Aid Week Appeal, which focused on the climate crisis and its effect on the people in Guatemala.

Envelopes are still available, please fill in the attached form if you wish to gift aid your donation.

To date our we have received £770 in the envelopes and the sale of homemade cakes raised £115.

Coffee and Tea after Services!

We are aware many people are missing being able to chat over a ‘cuppa on the Sunday’s when we have communion. This is partly because four of the current volunteers are Elders. If there are any people who are able to cover the following dates, 22 June, 27 July or 24 August please contact Liz or Catherine

An Item of Interest

Tonteg Community Summer Market – Saturday 7th June 10.00 – 12.30

We have been in our ‘new home’ for just over 9 months and this is the first event that we have been aware of in the nearby community and a good percentage of our congregation live in or near Tonteg.

So, if you like Handcrafted Items, fresh bread, local cider or homemade cakes and pies then head along to the Community Centre, Main Road. Tonteg. Tea and coffee will also be served with the proceeds going to MNDA (Motor Neuron Disease Association) ~ there is a poster advertising the event in the hall.

Thought for the Week

Don’t be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated.

You can’t cross a chasm in two small steps.

David Lloyd George
