25th Aug 2024

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, which is our penultimate service in our present spiritual home.

We are very pleased that our own Stephen Webber has accepted the invitation to lead our service today, and we look forward to what he has to share with us. The service will include Holy Communion which will be celebrated by Rev Ray Vincent and all are welcome to share in the bread and wine.

We pray that, through them and with them, we may be made aware of God’s message to us all.

Handmade cards are available as usual but we are unable to display them: speak to Colleen if you want to purchase any. Remember, ALL profit goes to church funds.

Don’t forget the Foodbank Money box. Too many people have to turn to charity to supply food for their families, something that should not be happening. Our local food bank works tirelessly to support people in our community.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • Dave came home on Monday evening, with the district nurses dealing with a drain, but there was a problem with it and he was taken back in on Thursday morning. This is worrying for Kath.
  • Marilyn Young has not been well for a number of weeks but, is slowly improving.
  • Jean did return home for one day, but she had a fall and has been readmitted to RGH.
  • Elsie is happy to say that following her scan she will continue taking the tablets with a review in December.
  • Gwyneth has had a blip and is on a new course of treatment which will continue for a number of months.
  • We have missed Diane from our services recently, she has had a problem with a reaction to eye drops. We hope this is remedied very soon.
  • Dorothy is coping with her limitations but is unable to venture out, which he misses, and we miss her.
  • We remember those who have ‘lost’ loved ones in recent months, especially Sue Skym and Sue Ruck.
  • We think of Catherine who is not with us today as she is at her cousin’s memorial service.

Coffee after Services

Just giving advanced notice, we won’t be serving coffee after the service on 1st September. If you’re in church this week and have a chance to look in the hall you’ll understand why!!!

There will be coffee in our new home on 15th September.

Update on our move to Treforest.

A reminder to those who are key holders: ALL keys must be returned to Lynda on or by 1st September.

A good start has been made on sorting out what needs to be taken to Treforest, and what can be recycled.

Please can those who are able, bring a bag to church this week and take some of the recyclable items, which are on the table in front of the stage, to a charity shop or if you would like any of the items, please take them.

There are also a number of commemorative plates of our Uniting in 2002 if anyone wants a memento.

Thought for the Week.

Before you speak, listen……Before you write, think.
Before you spend, earn……Before you invest, investigate.
Before you criticize, wait……Before you pray, forgive.
Before you quit, try……Before you retire, save.
Before you die, give.

William Arthur Ward
