22nd September 2024

We warmly welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, both in person or online. If you are new to our fellowship, you are especially welcome.

Today’s service will be led by Rev Martin Spain, Officer for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations with URC. The service will include the Induction and Ordination of our two new Elders, Anne and Colleen and we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper when ALL are welcome to partake of the bread and wine.

As a uniting Church we are pleased to welcome representatives of our three denominations, who will participate in the service. Karen Kaneen of SWBA and Rev Owen Griffiths of PCW.

Getting to and parking in Treforest

Any concerns about parking were dispelled! Along with the nine spaces in the carpark there was plenty of on-street parking available within easy walking distance. We hope this will always be the case.

If anyone has difficulty with transport, please speak to Claire who has a list of all who are able to give lifts.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • We continue to hold Julie Kirby in our prayers in these early days following the passing of Ian.
  • We are aware of people who have been unwell recently including Sue Skym, may they feel better soon.
  • We rejoice with Alison and Steve as they celebrated their son’s wedding this weekend!
  • We think of Marco and the staff of Café Royale as they face a new future as the café has closed after 46 years. The Park Ramblers will miss their Monday visits, all the staff were so helpful and welcoming.
  • We pray for those whose extended family have suffered a bereavement recently and those for whom this time of year holds sad memories.
  • There are several people who are unable to worship with us because of illness or family responsibilities. A phone call or visit would let them know they are not forgotten!
  • We remember those who are taking a new step in their life as they start university.

Birthdays.

There are 4 people that we are aware of who will, we hope, be celebrating with family and friends this week.

They are: Gwenllian ~ Today (22nd),  Marlene McC ~ Wednesday 25th,  Sharon ~ Thursday 26th,  and Lesley ~ Saturday 28th

Thanks…..

From a church member perspective

A very big thank you to all the people who were involved in the practicalities of the move from the town church to Castle Street, Treforest.

The interior of the church has been transformed into a building that is financially viable, technically able, watertight and capable of taking not only our congregation but hopefully other worshippers well into the next few decades.

It was a joy to enter not only a welcoming, freshly painted sanctuary but a full church. Long may it continue.

Thought for the Week

Never look down to rest the ground before taking your next step;

only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find his right road.
