22nd December 2024

We welcome you all to the last Sunday in Advent, and our Nativity Service, which has been prepared by Iestyn.

We are grateful to Iestyn and thank him for all his work and look forward to what he has to share with us.

The service will include the Celebration of Communion and ALL are welcome to share in the bread and wine.

This will be your last opportunity to buy Christmas cards: Birthday cards and cards for all occasions are available and all proceeds are given to the Church.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week:

  • Sadly, Colleen’s sister-in-law passed away quite unexpectedly on Wednesday. We think of the extended family at this time.
  • Stephanie has been struggling to fight off a severe chest infection, which is delaying a hospital appointment. We hope that she will be able to celebrate Christmas services with us.
  • Annette has been under par recently; we hope she has recovered.
  • We think of those for who this will be the first Christmas without close family members, we remember especially Alison, Sonia, Marcia, Sue Skym, Sue Ruck and the Henson family. Apologies if I have missed anyone.

Birthdays

We know of two people who will be celebrating their birthdays during this week:
Gail Stewart on Monday 23rd and Chris Morris on Thursday 26th

Then in the first week of the New Year there are four people who will be celebrating:
John King on Wednesday 1st, Susan Kojo (who will be 18) and her sister Renda Alkawas on Thursday 2nd
The fourth person celebrating is Tony Grigg who has a ‘special’ birthday on Saturday 4th.

Thanks….

…..from Susan Thomas…”Many thanks for all the good wishes, cards and gifts I received on the occasion of my ‘special’ birthday, I’ve had a great week!”   Susan

St David’s Guild

Members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of miscellaneous Christmas music items played beautifully by Eira Roberts on her trumpet. The programme ranged from a medley of carols to music from various Christmas films. Members were tested on their knowledge of some of the melodies and whether they could answer some Christmas cracker jokes. They performed well on the former but not so well on the latter!

This was the last meeting of the Autumn programme.

The next guild meeting will be held on Wednesday January 15th 2025. Guild Diaries are available today!

Leprosy Mission

Leprosy Mission boxes & Annual donations can be given to Margaret Morris. If you send a cheque, please make it payable to St David’s Uniting Church.
