20th July 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, either on line or in person, especially if you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time

We are very fortunate to have many talented people on our fellowship who are willing to take part in our services, often at short notice. Today’s service has been prepared by the Worship Group with the help of URC Worship Notes compiled by Revd Angela Rigby.

Tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the service, and handmade cards will be on sale. Please join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Pastoral Matters

We only include names when permission has been given.

  • We hold the family, and especially the friends, of Gwenllian, who passed away on June 18th, in our thoughts as they gather at Coychurch Crematorium on Thursday July 24that 11.30am to say their final farewell
  • George has a hospital appointment this week, we hope that all will go well.
  • As we are now in the holiday season, many people are getting away for a break! We think of those who for whatever reason are not able to escape and recharge their batteries so to speak.
  • We are also approaching the season for graduations and exam results; we hope that those involved will have good news.

Birthday Cards

There are no birthdays this week!

So, we take this opportunity to remind people that some of Colleen’s handcrafted cards require a large stamp if they are going to be posted. Most of her cards can go by normal post if they are not too thick.

Colleen has a post office envelope measure to show which the cards are okay for normal postage!

Normal postage is:                                          2nd class   87p  and  1st class  £1.70

Large Cards – depending on weight are:        2nd class          £1.55 – £2.70

                                                1st   class          £3.15 – £3.60

There are a variety to choose from, if you are unsure just check with Colleen.

BUT, on the plus side Colleen’s cards are better value than the shops and can be personalised.

Large cards are £2 and small ones £1.50.  Cards can be made for special occasions.

Denominational Item

The URC Wales Synod newsletter, had the following item. July Reflection – Together in prayer.

Maggie Kirkbride – Administration Officer, United Reformed Church National Synod of Wales

This month I have been so lucky to have travelled to the West and North of Wales, and to the East and South of England.

I have, of course, been struck by the beauty of the landscapes – so different but yet so similar, except for the flatlands of Cambridgeshire!

Our countryside is a blessing we can at least enjoy for free, whether we choose to walk, run, cycle or drive through it – or even

forage through it. Just drop ourselves down and drink it in!

Thankfully from a distance the harm being caused is less obvious, but we know it’s happening. We are all stewards of creation and must hold that responsibility within our hearts. Whatever small effort we make does make a difference and gives our planet a chance to revive itself.

Whenever I think of our God’s beautiful creation the hymn ‘For the beauty of the earth’ comes to mind.

This is the link if you have access to YouTube        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7fVqEEcd94

A Prayer

Gracious God, we thank you for the gift of creation, for the beauty and wonder of the world around us. We marvel at the vastness of the sky, the majesty of the mountains, the intricate details of a single flower, and the vastness of the oceans. We are grateful for the diverse array of life, from the smallest insects to the largest creatures.

Forgive us for the times we have failed to appreciate your creation, for the times we have been careless and wasteful, for the times we have taken for granted the resources you have provided. Grant us a spirit of reverence and responsibility, that we may be faithful stewards of this planet, protecting its beauty and its resources for ourselves and for those who will come after us.

Help us to see your hand in all things, to find joy in the simple things, and to live in harmony with nature. Guide us to make choices that will help preserve your creation for generations to come. We ask this in your name.
Amen.

We have been privileged to have Maggie as a guest preacher!

Thought for the Week

From a bookmark ~ Contributed by Marilyn Young

Don’t worry about anything,

Pray about everything,

Don’t forget to thank God for the answers.
