19th May 2024

As you will appreciate there is no News Sheet this week.

We were all very sad to hear the news of Brian’s death. He was a big part of our Church family and will be greatly missed by us all. We hold Marcia, Sian, Martyn and their families in our prayers.

Apologies that there was no livestream or recording last Sunday. Robert has contacted Paul, the engineer who looks after the sound and vision system, he will come as soon as he can. In the meantime Robert has been doing some research to try to solve the problem.

Paul will be meeting the electrician at the new St. David’s building this week to sort the wiring for the sound and vision there. The architect has sent this message ‘works are proceeding at pace on site and everything is well ahead of schedule’.

Last Sunday’s Cake Sale raised £100 for Christian Aid, many thanks to all those who supported it.

Nominations for Elders

Nomination forms for two places on the eldership are now available. Please speak with your elder/pastoral buddy if you are unable to pick one up. Those members we have email addresses for will receive a nomination slip by email.

Here are the ‘t’s and ‘c’s

Current eldership: Lynda Bull, Liz Henson, Claire Hughes, Viviane Lamare, Pam Mahoney, Maralyn Tomlinson, Bethan Walkling, Catherine Naamani. These need not be nominated.

All St. David’s Uniting Church members can nominate any other church member whom they deem to have the gifts and graces to serve God through church eldership. More than one name can be given and neither a seconder, nor the permission of the person you’re nominating needs to be sought. Please take some time to prayerfully consider this. All forms must be received by 2nd June. Elders will be affirmed at the AGM on July 1st.

Thanks!

….from Phil:-

“A huge thanks to everyone who sent Birthday greetings to me earlier this month. As if sharing the Big Day with the new series of Dr Who wasn’t exciting enough, your messages and cards – even some legendary Colleen ones! – made the day that bit more special. Really looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it (from Castle Square too!) next Wednesday – 29th – 2pm – Gelliwastad Road –  for a short talk on my experiences in youth justice – and a general catch-up! Much love in the meantime, Phil”

Next Sunday 26th May – Morning service 10.45 am with Maggie Kirkbride.

Advance Notice

For our Zoom service on 9th June, we will joining with Christ Well in Swansea where the service is being led by Simon Walkling. Everyone will be able to join in the service as it will be shared both in church and for those who would like to join in at home.

Please note that the service in Christ Well starts a little earlier, at 10:30am, so be sure to arrive or login in plenty of time. We’ll share the link for those joining at home closer to the time.

This is part of our review of second Sunday services based on everyone’s feedback earlier on in the year. It’s an opportunity to join in with worship with other churches which would not otherwise be possible.
