18th February 2024

We extend a warm welcome to everyone who joins us for worship today, especially if you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time.

We are very pleased to welcome our good friend Rev Aled Edwards, who has once again accepted our invitation to lead our worship today.

We look forward to a time of rich blessing, but also of challenge, as Aled leads us.

After Service Refreshments & Handmade cards.Image of a cup of tea or coffee with steam rising from the top

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.

  • We are aware of people who are on new forms of pain medication with the possibility of injections in the coming weeks. May they know that they are in our prayers
  • Brian is looking forward to a life without hospital appointments, as the consultant has discharged him because it was not advisable to continue the treatment. His appetite has improved and as soon as he is able to sit in comfort he will hopefully get to church.
  • After necessary preparations Dorothy had her operation on Thursday and all went well, she is now home for a couple of days before going to her daughters to recuperate for a few days. She has been told not to lift anything or walk up or down hills for 6 weeks!!!
  • Stephanie had an MRI scan last week, we hope that the results will bring news that is acceptable.
  • Marlene McCloy has an appointment with the Physio, although it is not until early March.
  • Anne Coles has been struggling with knee pain, hopefully it will improve quickly.
  • Those unable to worship with us in person. May they know they are not forgotten.
  • We give thanks for those who contribute to Sunday worship and the running of our church:   Organists/pianists, Readers, Technology Team, Welcomers, Stewards, Coffee makers, Secretary, Finance Team, Pulpit supplies, Justice and Peace, Worship Planning Group, Communications team. Language Class Team

There are two Birthdays that we are aware of this week: ~ TODAY (Sunday 18th) Catherine Naamani and on Tuesday 20th, Simon Morris-Groves. We hope you both have a great day.

St David’s Guild

Last week at our meeting which was presented by Cwm Taf Morgannwg, we were encouraged to consider  ‘Nutrition Skills for Life’  by looking at two ‘no charge’ courses that are run by the NHS.

‘Get Cooking’ is designed to develop cooking and nutrition skills and ‘Foodwise for Life’ which will help manage weight loss in a healthy way.

Leaflets about both courses are on the table.

This week, Norman, outreach lead, from Oasis, a charity whose main aim and vision is to help refugees and asylum seekers integrate within their local community, will be our guest speaker.     Learn more from their website www.oasiscardiff.org

This promises to be a very interesting afternoon.

Lent Studies

This year we are holding our Lent studies at the church on alternate Thursday evenings and afternoons. We are using the ‘Act on Poverty’ resources prepared by Christian Aid which are available online https://www.christianaid.org.uk/get-involved/campaigns/act-poverty-resource-packs

The first afternoon session, which will be led by Margaret Morris, has ‘Broken’ as its theme.

Printed copies are available on request.
