17th Aug 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, either on line or in person, especially if you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time.

For those who regularly join the Zoom service from the sanctuary, we apologies that last week’s service, was besieged by technical difficulties. It is hoped that the issue has been resolved.

Our service today has been prepared by members of the Justice & Peace group & the Worship group and is based on the Christian Aid Resources for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine.   https://www.christianaid.org.uk/resources/get-involved/just-peace-order-service

Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall following the service, and a good selection of handmade cards will be available. We invite you to join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Medical Aid for Palestinians

During this week’s service we will be remembering the people of Palestine and praying for a just peace in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. In support, we will be taking a retiring offering for Medical Aid for Palestinians. Don’t worry if you’re not able to give this week, we’ll be holding the appeal open until 7th September.

This date coincides with the RCT Palestine Solidarity Campaign  People’s Peace Walk ‘25 miles through Gaza’ – when people will be walking from Merthyr to Cardiff along the Taff Trail starting at 6am and aiming to arrive in Cardiff 8pm.

Pastoral Matters

We only include names when permission has been given.

  • Many will be aware that Hilary has now left hospital and is in residential care. When visited this week she was enjoying the sunshine in the garden with other residents. We wish her much happiness as she settles in to her new abode.
  • We keep Pat in our thoughts, she has had a shingles vaccination, thankfully with no repercussions and has also had a scan, she is still feeling very weak, but hopes to be in church on Sunday.
  • We give thanks for the people who play the organ for our services; without them we would not be able to ‘make a joyful noise!
  • We keep Dorothy in our prayers as she prepares for an operation, hopefully. in the near future.
  • There are a number of people who do not enjoy good health, we remember them and those who care for them.

Sharing Good News

Gwyneth and Rob are absolutely thrilled that their granddaughter has done extremely well in her ‘A’ levels and has been accepted at her preferred University.

Marcia is very pleased that her granddaughter who sat Maths ‘A’ level a year early has achieved and A* along with 2 AS’s; Physics A and Computer Science B.

Thanks….

….from Colleen ‘Thankyou, to everyone for the birthday cards and kind wishes I received on my birthday.’

News from the Elders Meeting.

  • There will be a short church meeting after the service on Sunday to approve another person to become a member along with the others on 28th
  • A new Elders’ List was agreed. A copy is in the hall.
  • A volunteer has agreed to take on the role of producing the news sheet on a monthly basis.
  • Several members have mentioned difficulty in leaving their seats at the end of the service because of people chatting in the aisle. Agreed to ask those who wish to chat to move to the space at the front or go into the hall. It also causes a health and safety issue.
