16th March 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us for worship today, either in person or online, as we gather for the second Sunday in lent.

Our guest preacher today is Dave Kitchen. Dave is a retired head teacher and an author.  His sermon has the title, “Holding on, letting go.”  We pray that we will find peace and fellowship as Dave leads us.

Tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the service, and homemade cards, including a selection for Easter, will be on sale. Orders can be placed for personalised Cards.

All are welcome to join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Newsletter Changes

As GDPR and other safeguarding rules make publishing personal news more difficult than it has been in the past, our Church Family and Pastoral News has been replaced.

Pastoral Prayers & Messages from the Congregation

We only include names in the newsletter with express permission.

  • We are able to share with you that the funeral of Marian Mansell, a long-time member of Castle Square URC, will be held at Glyntaf, on Friday 21st March at 12.45.
  • Pray for those preparing for next weekend.
  • Pat wishes people to know that following months of being unwell, she has finally received a diagnosis, that should have been picked up earlier, she will have a course of treatment, which will be a struggle, but will have a positive outcome.
  • We remember those who have been, or are waiting to be, discharged from RGH and will go to Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda or possibly a care home.
  • Following a fall, Stephanie spent a couple of days in RGH, she is pleased to be back home.
  • We continue to think of those who are concerned for the well-being of close family.
  • We think of our Muslim friends during the period of Ramadan.

St David’s Guild

Last Wednesday’s meeting was taken up by a talk on an aspect of American history- namely the importance of the Presidents carved into Mt Rushmore…..why there in particular and by the monumental carving of a whole mountain of Crazy Horse, a Lakota Sioux chief who led the indigenous people against Custer’s 7th calvary at the Little Big Horn.  This is a monument to the tribes of the Black Hills of South Dakota and to the whole indigenous peoples who were ruthlessly displaced by the American government. It was a fascinating afternoon and we thank Marilyn for sharing her photographs and memories with us.

This week there is a change from the diary when an illustrated talk will be given on Pontypridd market from its inception to the present day.

Thought for the Week

“There is no justification without sanctification, no forgiveness without renewal of life,

no real faith from which the fruits of new obedience do not grow.”
