15th June 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us today which is Trinity Sunday in the Church Calendar and also the start of Refugee week.

We give a special welcome to Revd. Mark Fairweather-Tall, Regional Minister and Team Leader of South Wales Baptist Association, who is leading our worship today. Mark first visited us in September 2023 when we were preparing to move the our ‘new’ home. He was also present and took part in the re-dedication service of the church on November 9th.   Link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMsP8NHvLWk&t=478s

We look forward to his sharing of news from the Association and to his message to us for the coming weeks.

Tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the service, and homemade cards, will be on sale.

All are welcome to join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Pastoral Matters

We only include names when permission has been given.

  • We continue to hold the family and friends of Doreen Richards Clarke in our prayers. Doreen’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 2nd July at 12.30. More details next week.
  • We hold Hilary in our prayers, she is currently receiving Physio in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, she is happier there than RGH, but would rather be home!
  • We remember those of our fellowship who are unable to remember us, and pray for their well-being.
  • We think of those who have been in hospital for some time and for their families as they plan for the future.
  • We give thanks for ‘good’ news and we remember those for whom news has not been so good,

Birthdays

There are 4 people known to us who will be celebrating their birthdays this week:

TODAY (15th) – Phil Rickards, Tuesday 17th – Elizabeth (Buffy) Harris (and it’s a BIG one)

Wednesday 18th – Gill Cox and on Saturday 21st – Diane Wheeler. We trust you will all be able to celebrate!

Thanks….

“Margaret would like to thank everyone for their cards, gifts and good wishes for her birthday.  We had a lovely day and would like to say how grateful we are to belong to such a friendly, thoughtful church. God bless you all.”

Sharing Good News

We are delighted to share the new that Gethin Rhys is to become an honorary Druid. (Blue Robe) for his service to the nation. Gethin has served Wales and its faith, its politics, and its society with his sharp mind and his commitment to seeing a fair, unbiased society in our country. In his role as a policy officer for Cytûn, he has presented evidence and suggestions to various Government committees and denominations, to churches and individuals to improve policies and relationships. During the pandemic, he played a key role in discussing guidelines with the Government and presenting them to churches and communities. Gethin has also served on the Wales Interfaith Council, a vital body for promoting tolerance and understanding between communities in Wales. He is a discerning theologian, a patient yet determined politician, and a gentle, insightful sociologist.  We congratulate Gethin on this honour.
