14th January 2024

We welcome you all to our services today either on line or in person.

It’s the second Sunday of the month and our first ZOOM service of the new year. We invite you to join us in ‘the square’ from 10.30 for a pre-service chat!

We are very pleased that Gwen Simmons has once again accepted our invitation to lead this service from her home in Rotherham, and we look forward to this time of ‘on screen’ worship and fellowship.

At the same time, for those who don’t have internet access or prefer ‘live’ worship, there is an alternative service at St David’s. This in-house service will be led by Michael Howells.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week. We think of:-

  • Dorothy as she waits for an operation so that she will be able to return to a more normal life.
  • Those concerned for close family waiting for a biopsy and others who have long awaited appointments.
  • Jayne Bright tested positive for Covid last weekend, hopefully she will soon test negative.
  • Many of our fellowship are sadly no longer able to join us for worship because of illness or frailty. A phone call or visit would let them know they are not forgotten!
  • The Elders as they meet this Sunday to deal with all that is entailed in the running of the church.

Thanks …..

…from Barbara Slade…I would like to say how grateful I am for the delivery of the newssheet and phone calls I receive; I also send my best wishes to you all for a healthy and Happy 2024.

Progress on our move to Castle Square

The meeting at the Synod office on Wednesday went well, resulting in the Finance and Property Board giving permission for the work to go ahead at Castle Square.

Next Steps –

  • complete the application form for grants from the URC.
  • instruct the architects to get tenders for the work.
