13th April 2025

We welcome everyone who joins us for our Palm Sunday Service, either in person or on-line.

We are very pleased to be welcoming Revd Howard Sharp a former minister of Pontypridd United Church who is leading our worship today. We pray that we may all know the joy of worship in God’s presence, and experience the challenge of his word to us.

Howard along with Revd David Smith, a former minister of St David’s Presbyterian Church was instrumental in the churches uniting. In the mid 1980’s, they started the ‘shared’ services during the month of August. It took until 2002 for us to become the church we are today.

Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall following the service, and hand-made cards will also be available. We invite you to join us for this time of informal fellowship.

Pastoral Prayers

  • We continue to pray for those who are in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, and hope that they may discharged, either to their homes or suitable accommodation soon.
  • We give thanks for ‘good’ news and we remember those for whom news has not been so good.
  • This week will have sad memories for some people who have ‘lost’ those dear to them.
  • We think of people who are experiencing frustrating and challenging situations which they cannot control and hope that solutions will be possible.
  • We pray for those affected by the Myanmar Earthquake and hope that our donations will help provide life-saving support.

Last Wednesday we learned about ‘the origins of sayings’ e.g.  dressed to the nines’ , this related to the amount of cloth (9 yards) that was required to make a bespoke suit!  There were many more interesting and some questionable sayings shared.

This week will be the last in the session until the Autumn and will be ‘All things Considered’ with Marilyn in the Hot seat!

Christian Aid Myanmar Earthquake Appeal.

The earthquake that struck central Myanmar has destroyed homes and left people in urgent need of drinking water, food and shelter. Christian Aid is working closely with their partners and colleagues in the region to identify the extent of the damage and the risk to communities there.

PLEASE donate on line via the Christian Aid Web site. OR give to the retiring collection after the service

Help and ideas needed as we face the future

We are still a ‘new’ church in the area and we are looking forward to having a Minister to guide us.

We urgently need a hiring’s officer, or maybe a team! Is this something YOU could help with. Please give it some thought.

Also as a ‘new’ church, our newsletter, which has changed very little in the last 25 years, could do with a revamp…..does anyone have any suggestions!

Thought for the Week

“Everything in life has its own time. There is time to celebrate and there is time to mourn.

This is the time for reflection and transformation. Let us look within and change into what we ought to be.”

Aaron Saul
