12th January 2025

We welcome you all to our first Hybrid service of 2025. The service will start at 10.30, the link for ZOOM will be open from 10.15

We join with Christ Well Church, Manselton on Zoom with the Service being led by Rev Simon Walkling.

We thank Simon for facilitating this service and look forward to seeing Simon and hearing his message to us.

Following the service, those in the sanctuary will be able to share fellowship over Tea and Coffee in the hall, when handmade cards will be on sale, while those watching via Zoom will catch up on news in ‘Chat Rooms’. However you join the service, we encourage you to join in this time of informal fellowship.

Church Family and Pastoral News

We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week:

  • Stephanie was admitted to hospital on Wednesday with low oxygen levels: We have since been told that she has Pneumonia. We think of her and Alan, who is also not well, in his concern for her.
  • We hold Alison and Steve in our prayers following the death on Monday of Steve’s Mother. She had been in hospital, having broken her hip at the end of November.
  • We have missed Janet from our services during the Christmas Season as she has been unwell, we hope to see her again soon.
  • Gwyneth even though the trial she was on has finished, and has now been licenced for use, her visits to Guys in London will continue as her case is a complex one!
  • Aisha is improving from her Tonsillectomy and hopes to return to work soon.
  • Elaine, a member of Guild has had a fall and broken her hip.

Birthdays

There is only one person on our list that has a birthday this week: Hopefully Robert James will be celebrating on Friday 17th. We send our good wishes

Good News!!

We rejoice with Elsie who at her recent visit to Velindre was told that the tumours are shrinking and her next appointment will be in 6months time.

“Do you believe this?” – the 2025 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity commemorates 1700 years since the Council of Nicea, and the beginnings of the Creed familiar to so many Christians today. Come and join other believers in praying for unity at St Dyfrig’s Church, Broadway, Treforest at 6 pm on Friday. All welcome! –

GDPR Forms

As mentioned last week we need to update our GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) records. Our original forms didn’t include all the information required. It’s seven years since most people completed a form. Everyone will need to complete and return a new form a.s.a.p – it can be completed on-line using this link –                       https://forms.gle/geVz83Yt9A3W4BrM6

For those without internet access paper forms are available from Marcia.

Leprosy Mission Appeal

Last week those who managed to get to church, and those who have been able to view the Video link that was sent during the week, will know how great the need is, even in 2025 there are Leprosy Colonies where help is desperately needed. With this in mind the Appeal will remain open until 26th January, which is World Leprosy Day.

Thought for the Week

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
