As usual, during our service for the 1st Sunday in Advent we will support Amnesty International Write for Rights Campaign.
For those of you who won’t be able to sign cards and write letters together in church in the usual fashion, you can still be involved. Here are some of the activities you might like to take part in.
We have selected 2 cases of people covering countries and topics which have been very much in the news.
- From Belarus, MIKITA ZALATAROU , a 15 year old child, who has been sent to a child prison colony for taking part in a peaceful protest about the results of the recent presidential election.
- From Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, JANNA JIHAD, a teenage Palestinian journalist harassed for her work.
You can write to the relevant authorities and send a message of solidarity to each of the two people.
