1 March 2015
We welcome everyone to worship today, as we celebrate St David’s Day. If you are visiting or worshipping with us for the first time we hope you will feel ‘at home’, and return again soon.
We especially welcome our good friends Fr Andrew Davies and his wife, Rev Irene O’Brien, who are leading this morning’s service.
This evening’s service which will include the celebration of the Lord’s Supper will be led by our minister.
Tea and coffee will be served in the hall following the morning service, when Traidcraft items and homemade cards will be available, and don’t forget the Copper pot is waiting for your spare change!

Dates for your Diary
Wednesday 4th March Ladies Guild
Our guest speaker this week is Mr Wishaw, Ecology Officer for RCT. You may not know much about Ecology which has been described as ‘the study of the “household” of living things: their neighbours and neighbourhood’. So we invite you to join us in the Victoria room at 2pm when we should learn more.
Thursday 5th March Lenten Bible Study
We continue these weekly studies on the theme of ‘Christians in the Middle East’, which we are sharing with friends from St Catherine’s, for this week we will meet at St David’s
Friday 6th March Lent Lunch
The Soup, Bread and Cheese lunch this week will be held at Castle Sq URC, Treforest from 12 noon till 1.30pm Suggested donation £2.50. There will be a Fairtrade stall.
Friday 6th March Women’s World Day of Prayer
We are the hosts for this annual service to which ALL are invited. It will commence at 2pm. This year the service has been planned by the people of the Bahamas and the theme of the service is taken from St John’s Gospel, chapter 13 verses 1-17, ‘Jesus said to them: “Do you know what I have done to you?”’ and it challenges us to demonstrate the same radical, unconditional love for others that Jesus showed when he washed the feet of his disciples.
Friday 28th March Marathon Musical Concert
As part of his London Marathon fundraising Iestyn and his friends will present an evening of music including works by Mozart, Grieg and Elgar at the incredibly low price of £5. The ‘friends’ are giving their services free and will be rehearsing during the afternoon before the concert… It would be good to give them a special ‘St David’s’ welcome by providing them with refreshments: if you are able to help/contribute please speak to Marcia.
We heard on Thursday that we have received a £10,000 grant towards the kitchen. Our thanks to Pam and Chris who have worked extremely hard to secure this funding.
BBC Celebration Broadcast.
The first of the radio services – God and Laughter – which we recorded, will be broadcast on Sunday 9th March at 7.30am and at 6.30pm. Make a note to listen in.
Marathon Coffee Morning – A message from Iestyn
£273 was taken for coffee and cakes, which Darren and I have split 50/50 to include in our overall fundraising totals.
However that is only part of the story, as we both had our own ‘stalls’ as well, and so when you add the proceeds from those it means that a grand total of £415 went directly to Macmillan as a result of the morning – a fantastic total. Please pass on our deep thanks to everyone who made cakes, supported with their presence, and helped in other ways. I should also say that many people commented on how nice the atmosphere was and how welcoming everyone had been.
