8th March 2020
We give a warm welcome to all who share worship with us today.
Cymru am Byth! This weekend Phil is using one of his six holiday Sundays to support some foreign rugby team at Twickenham. He’ll be back Sunday night…with tail between his legs we hope…and has warned of a Six Nations themed service next Sunday.
We are delighted to welcome Rev Dr Rosa Hunt, Pastor of Salem Baptist and a Co-Principal of South Wales Baptist College who is leading our worship this morning.
Tea and coffee is served in the hall following the service, and hand-made cards will are on sale. Please join us for this time of informal fellowship
Please remember the Copper Pot, and put your loose change in it before you leave, it will be used to benefit local charities.

This Week and in the future
Last week, Phil – quite unpreparedly, he claims – took part in a recording for All Things Considered. The show is being broadcast today at 9am and will be repeated at 5:30am on Tuesday on BBC Radio Wales or you can listen again on BBC Sounds.
The diary for Ladies Guild this week shows ‘Secret London’: Robert James.’ will enlighten us to what is ‘secret’!
Deposits will be taken made for our Easter Meal on April 1st!
This week’s ‘LENT LUNCH’ is being hosted by Coedpenmaen Community Churrch,. There is a suggested donation of £2.50.
Please support these weekly lunches if you are able.
VALLEY AID 2020. Tickets have gone on sale for fundraising gigs which will feature some of Wales’ best-known musicians.
Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield, Grammy Award-winner Amy Wadge, and Charlotte Church are all taking part in Valley Aid 2020.
The Alarm’s Mike Peters and Amen Corner frontman Andy Fairweather Low have also been added to the line-up. The gigs, at the Pop Factory in Porth will be spread over two nights.
The first night, on Friday, March 13, will raise funds for Clwb y Bont in Pontypridd centre, which has been extensively damaged by the floods.
On Saturday, March 14, it will raise money for those in the community. More information is available on the internet at ‘Valley Aid 2020’
This may not appeal to the majority of our congregation, but spread the news among your family and friends – these gigs will raise much needed funds for our community!
Film and chat . 4pm, Sunday 15th March – for our next film and chat afternoon, we’ll be watching an award-winning film which tells the story of love and religious prejudice in South Wales. Certificate 15.
URC Synod. Phil, Simon and Sue all attended URC Synod last weekend where topics discussed included Eco Church and the United Reformed Church’s ongoing commitment to justice in the holy land. We will hear more about Eco Church on Sunday March 26th whilst Revd Branwen Rees (also with us next week) will share more of her experience in Israel/Palestine when she joins us for a talk on ‘The Significance of Jerusalem for Jews, Christians and Muslims’ to be held at our church from 7pm on April 8th. Thought for the Week
Recreate your relationship with God based on trust, not on what you believe.
Trust is a surrender to God’s world. Belief puts God in my world.
