Ministers Diary
Phil will be leaving just before the end of the service today as he has been invited to speak about our work with the refugees and the 20-40 age group at the inter faith chaplaincy at Leeds University this evening. In return, Revd Sam Aspinall, URC minister working with the chaplaincy and researching church engagement with the 18 – 25 age group will share some of her reflections with us in the autumn.
On Tuesday evening, Phil and Ray will be attending the Muslim Council of Wales’ annual inter-faith dinner where the guest speaker will be Rowan Williams. Alongside learning from Muslim hospitality, they will convey our continued love and support for our Muslim sisters and brothers in this time of seemingly growing division.

You may be aware that Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC are proposing to close down most of the 11-remaining council-run Residential Homes for the Elderly in Rhondda Cynon Taf and all of the remaining day centres for the elderly. These are to be replaced by 5 “extra care homes”, only one of which is currently in operation. Similar closures have taken place in other parts of Wales and many people have expressed deep concerns that the level and quality of provision for vulnerable older people has declined as a result of such changes.
We are urged to learn more about the proposals and to participate in the consultation process. There is to be a March and Rally in Pontypridd at Noon on Saturday 30th March, 2019. Also, a public meeting has been arranged for Thursday 4th April, 2019. More details next week. Please support these events if you can.
