14 January 2018
Welcome, everyone, to our services today as we celebrate our 16th Anniversary as St David’s Uniting Church with our Minister leading us. If this is your first visit, we hope you will feel the warmth of our welcome and return again soon.
Due to the top triple of our Anniversary Service, Church Meeting and Church Lunch, there will be no evening service. Members are encouraged to relax…or if they are seeking worship, to worship with sisters and brothers at another church or alongside ‘Songs of Praise’!”
Coffee and Tea will be served in the hall following the morning service, and Homemade greetings cards will be on sale.
The Church Meeting will begin at 12 o’clock, feel free to grab a cuppa and bring it back into the sanctuary. All are welcome to attend.
The agenda and the minutes of the October meeting are on the table.
Don’t forget the Copper Pot – it is on the table waiting for your coppers!

Church Family and Pastoral News
People to hold in your thoughts and prayers today and during this week:
- Cyril Davies whose nephew Andrew died aged 40 following a viral infection.
- Many people have been affected by colds and flu we hope they recover soon.
- We continue to remember those who live with debilitating illnesses and struggle with everyday tasks
- Those who are sharing their ministry with friends elsewhere:
Ray at Taffs Well and Iestyn at Risca
Thanks. Margaret Johnson wishes to thank all friends at St. David’s Uniting for their phone calls, cards and visits during her sad loss and also over Christmas.

This Week and in the future:
On Wednesday Dr. Mark Stone, Chair of the Cardiff Reformed Synagogue, will share some Reflections with the Ladies Guild. Some will remember Mark who was a guest speaker as part of our Church commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day last January. Others will have met him when we were invited to the Civic Menorah Lighting Ceremony during Advent.
Our film and chat evenings have moved to 4pm on the 3rd Sunday of the month. January’s film will thus be screened on the 21st and is a classic 1940s fantasy drama often cited as the best British film ever made. How can you resist?! Certificate U.

Notices
A reminder that our Lent book for 2018 is ‘Abraham: A Journey Through Lent’ by Dr Meg Warner. “Heralded as an exemplar of faith, here is a man with his own distractions and doubts, whose human failings are only too evident. Read a story of journeying, of challenges, of false turns and unbelievable promises, and experience their relevance to your own faith and the world we live in. And finally, encounter a God whose love and faithfulness covers all our disbelief, our mistakes and our own faithlessness, and whose promises always come to fulfilment.”
Books cost £7 and Meg will be giving a free lecture on her work at our church on the evening of March 28th. Sign-up sheet for the book is at the back
THANKS! Many people were involved in a variety of ways during advent from preparing for, or taking part in services, to making a new card sorter, decorating the church and putting everything away before Epiphany. Thanks to all the people who worked behind the scenes to achieve an exciting Advent!
While the editor is in Spanish office………..news of the church family will NOT feature if people don’t pass the news on! As we are an inclusive church, help us be so by sharing your concerns with others!
