CHRIST IS RISEN!..….HE IS RISEN INDEED! …. HALLELUJAH!!
During this past week Phil has challenged us each day and reminded us of the events that led us to Easter Day.
In his mid-week reflection Phil shared his 5 favourite hymns/songs for Easter, they may not have been everyone’s choice! He has challenged us to share with him our favourites!
On Maundy Thursday we thought of the wilderness around us: physical separation, quarantine, illness, unemployment, deployment of health care workers, fear, uncertainty and grief. We also remembered the wilderness to come for Jesus: betrayal, denial by his closest friends, suffering and death.
We may be missing our usual Easter celebrations but we have plenty to be thankful for!
Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the news sheet to inform our prayers.
- Chris Fennell remains stable and in good humour, but has been upset by the news that her Sister-in-law, who was a resident in a care home has died from the virus. We keep Chris and her brother in our prayers.
- We have heard from Cristian in Romania: Denisa’s cousin has died after contracting Covid 19. We hold them in our prayers.
- Colleen has had a fall and hurt her back after tripping over a step in the garden. ‘I’ve decided not to do anymore of these keep fit exercises, they’re not good for you! She also hurt her thumb so is unable to make cards. We wish Colleen a speedy recovery.
- Following a ‘normal’ busy Holy Week, Phil would have been ‘on leave’ – having a rest! …. this year, which has been even busier, that is not possible. We hold Phil in our thoughts and prayers as he is called upon to support more families and conduct more funerals.
‘Let me thank you from us both for your wonderful gift, to think you thought of us with all that is going on. I must admit life is hard at the moment but with friends like you we will get through so THANK YOU ALL and hope to see you soon, keep safe and God Bless, we are overwhelmed with your kindness. With love Marilyn & Peter’ (Dillwoth)
Three birthday cards are being sent this week…It’s a ‘BIG’ one for Lynda on Thursday 16th, – her Annual ‘Birthday Walk’ in Cardiff walk followed by lunch has been put ‘on hold’! Julie Evans and Gareth Cooke will be celebrating their birthdays on Saturday 18th. There are probably others for whom this week is a time of sadness we think of them.
What we can do to help!
Alongside staying at home and clapping our carers, we can support our NHS workers by purchasing things on their wish list which will be used to make their job and the lives of their patients that bit brighter.
The COVID19 Cwm Taf Morgannwg Donation List can be found at:
Is anyone able to help with shopping or collecting prescriptions etc for those who are unable to go out! If so, please give your name to Marcia. We will then create a directory of volunteer shoppers with the area they can serve and pass it to those who need it!
Help while Self-Isolating!

Digital editions can be read on tablets, computers and smartphones, including monthly issues going back to the start of 2014. Enjoy classics like the interview with Terry Waite in July 2018’s edition. Terry, who spent 1,763 days in isolation, said: “Solitude forces you to face yourself as you are.”
Showing support and bringing cheer in a time unknown! –
Christians across Britain are invited to stand outside their homes and join a countrywide chorus at 10am on Easter Sunday by singing two popular and well-known hymns. Christ is Risen Today and Thine be the Glory have been chosen as they are cheerful, confident and joyful acclamations of resurrection and will be uplifting for other people to hear on Easter morning. Please share photos, videos and recordings of the singing on social media using the hashtag #SingResurrection
When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, “I’m not sure.” “Look in your underwear, Grandpa,” he advised “Mine says I’m 4 to 6.” (WOW! I really like this one — it says I’m only ’38’!)
