We welcome all who join us for worship today, the 2nd Sunday of Advent. If you are a visitor or worshipping with us for the first time you are especially welcome.
This morning we ‘Strive for Peace with Armistice and Angels’ as Phil leads us in our Advent Service.
This Evening at 6pm our Iona style service will include Advent Prayers for Peace.
All are invited to join us for Fairtrade Tea and Coffee in the hall following the morning service, there will be a good range of Christmas and Birthday cards available with all the profits going into the church funds.
Please remember the copper pot and empty your purses or pockets of those unwanted ‘coppers’. They will be put to good use by local charities.

This Week and in the future……
We have had excellent speakers during the last ten weeks in our Ladies Guild meetings and this week is the highlight of the year as Phil & Julie join us for our Christmas lunch which is booked for 12.30pm at The Longbow, Llantrisant for our Christmas Lunch. Our winter session will start on January 9th.
December 16th is Gift Sunday – This year’s charities are The Rowan Tree Cancer Charity and Save the Chilldren Yemen Crisis Appeal. Special envelopes are available: if you wish to ‘gift aid’ please write your name or number on the envelope.
We will also be accepting toys and gifts for the children supported by Home Start and gifts for the residents of the Mill Street Hostel. Please do NOT wrap the gifts.
On Monday December 17th come along at 6pm and bring your voice….or just a smile, as we share the joy of Christmas with shoppers at Sainsbury’s by singing carols and collecting for Christian Aid
Christmas Cinema Outing – On Sunday 23rd December, we are going to Showcase, Nantgarw to see the 3pm screening of ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ (Certificate U). Why not come along and bring family/friends to this festive filmic fun?! Please gather in the foyer by 2:45pm.
An Anniversary Lunch will be held on 20th January at 1.30pm the Rhondda Suite of the Heritage Park Hotel. The cost will be £10.95 for Carvery and Dessert, we will be asked to pre-order our Dessert. We have to give number by 2nd January. A sign-up sheet is on the table.

Notices
Offertory Envelopes for 2019 are available TODAY. Please collect yours today. If you would like to use to offertory envelopes for your weekly offering please speak to Anne Coles.
As we start to receive Christmas cards, please remember to save the postage stamps and put them in the box, they will then be recycled to raise funds for Amnesty International.
The Greetings Card Board and the card sorter are in place. We suggest you write one generic card for the ‘church’ friends you see frequently and pin it on the board then give a donation to the charity of your choice. Please use the card sorter and don’t forget to check for ‘your’ mail AND if you can deliver cards to people who are unable to worship with us please do so.
As you shop for extra’s for Christmas don’t forget to buy an extra item so that those who rely on the foodbank won’t go hungry. Maybe a special treat like a box of chocolates or some Christmas fayre!
Sure Start are trying to help the homeless people in Pontypridd by providing sleeping bags, one-person tents, roll up mats, thermal underwear, and flasks for hot drinks and soup. If you can provide any of these please do – the need is urgent! Monetary donations are also welcome
