We welcome you all to our service of lessons, readings and carols. It was so well received last year we are repeating it, allowing Phil to spend time with his family. The service has been planned by and will be led by the Elder’s.
This evening, at 5pm we are invited to join with friends from other churches at St Luke’s, Rhydyfelin for the traditional nine lessons and carols service when the offertory will be given to a charity.
Fairtrade tea and coffee will be served after this morning’s service: all are welcome please to join in this time of informal fellowship.
As usual the Copper pot is on the table at the back of the church waiting for your small change; local charities will benefit from your donations

Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the news sheet to inform our prayers.
- Chris Morris who is currently in Prince Charles hospital and Margaret in her concern for him.
- Those who are recovering from the Norovirus Bug.
- We pray for those who add to the services in church: the organists, Unedig and Cantorion, the readers, the flower arrangers, those who prepare and serve communion, Junior Church leaders and helpers, those who give a welcome at the door, and the coffee makers.
- We remember those of our fellowship who are unable to remember us, and we pray for their well-being,
- Phil as he spends time with his family and maybe will be able to relax and celebrate the coming New Year in style!
- That those who have had a difficult time in 2019 may be blessed with happiness and good health in 2020.

A message from the Treasurer – Giving ‘tax-efficiently’
If you are a UK taxpayer there are several ways in which you can give money to the Church which enable us to claim back tax on your gift, making every £1 donation worth £1.28. One way is to use the offertory envelopes for your weekly offering. If you have not been using envelopes but would like to do so, or if you would like to discuss alternative means of tax-efficient giving, please see Lynda Bull or Anne Coles.
Remember we have Foodbank boxes in the church, and the Church hall. ALL are welcome to deposit items at any time and they will be passed on. Shopping lists of suggested items are on the table. Donations of Cash is also acceptable.

A Prayer for the New Year
Lord, as a new year is about to begin,
may we have enough happiness to keep us agreeable,
enough trials to keep us strong, enough sorrow to keep us human
enough freedom to keep us happy, enough failure to keep us humble,
enough success to keep us eager, enough wealth to meet our needs,
enough faith to banish depression, enough hope to look forward,
enough love to give us comfort, and enough determination to keep going.
