25th February 2018
We welcome everyone who joins us this morning as we celebrate with a Gymanfa Ganu. If this is your first visit, we hope you will enjoy the experience and feel the warmth of our welcome.
‘To sing is to pray twice’ – St. Augustine. After the success of last year’s gymanfa ganu and the many requests to make it an annual service of worship, today it is our great pleasure to welcome back friends of the church Darya Brill-Williams and Jonathon Gulliford as they lead us in our service of praise this Sunday before St. David’s Day.
This evening our service at Church House will include the celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and discussion.
After all the singing this morning much needed Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall. Please join us and catch up with friends old and new! Hand-made cards will be on sale, with Mothering Sunday and Easter approaching take a look at the cards available!

Notices
Before leaving Pontypridd to return to Canada Peter said to Phil ‘My experience with St. David’s Uniting is second to none, and I truly appreciate everything you and the congregation have done for me over the past few years.I will truly miss everyone. I will speak of you and everyone at St. David’s Uniting fondly and often.’ We have also received a ‘farewell letter’ – it’s an interesting read! Copies are on the table.
Lent and the FoodBank -A Challenge: While lent is typically a time when people give something up for 40 days, it’s often the other way around with many people committing to support something by giving rather than (or, as well as!) giving something up.
Foodbank has a 40p for 40 days challenge, and they are asking people to join them in taking small actions to transform lives by giving up 40p for 40 days. If you choose to accept the challenge Alan will accept your contributions.
News of Cristian and Cristina: On Monday we sent Cristian the fifth and final installment of £1200 pounds for the treatment of Cristina ‘s condition (Henoch-Schonlein purpura). We have had to bridge the deficit to make it to the full amount. We had to send it then as Cristina’s fifth month of treatment was starting on the 19th and the fee has to be paid up-front.
Some of you may like to give us the amount for the fifth month which you had committed to or you may want to make a contribution anyway.
As soon as Cristian was able to cash the money gram at his post office, this is the message that he sent us:”Thank you very much for help. I paid the hospital, you are so good. With your help, Cristina is my pre-child again! We love and respect you”.
Cristian means: With your help Cristina is the child she was before her illness.
A letter of thanks has been received from Pontypridd Street Pastors to thank the Park Ramblers for their donation of £85 to their fund. The money will be used towards buying supplies such as bottles of water, flip flops, tissues, wet wipes, to name just a few of the things needed when they go out on patrol.
