31st October 2021
Did you remember to put your clocks back?
Today is SYNOD SUNDAY! – The service is on ZOOM at 10.45. – The Church is NOT open!
Four times a year, we worship alongside our siblings across Wales in a Synod Sunday service.
Today’s Synod Service and is to be led Revd Branwen Rees. Phil trained for ministry with Branwen and he assures us that we’re in for engaging and thought-provoking worship. All are welcome to participate through zoom, YouTube, or the service script.

Here’s what the Moderator said about the Synod Service when they were first trialed back in January:
The idea grew from feedback at the October 2020 Synod Meeting where there were suggestions about more opportunities to connect people across the Synod. The suggestion of recording a service for when there is a fifth Sunday in the month came from a local church minister, and this is the fruit. These videos seem appropriate to our times, to catch the need of the moment
Sharing in this service reminds us of our different circles of belonging in the church: to being part of the body of Christ through space and time, may it help us to give thanks to God and find energy for being partners in God’s work in the world and help us to feel part of something beyond ourselves.

Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the news sheet to inform our prayers. We ask your prayers for:
- People of or connected to our congregations who have close family members who are terminally ill.
- Loreen: still in RGH and feeling fed up as no visiting is allowed, she is in good spirits, and is waiting to be transferred to Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda.
- Diane Wheeler: she has had an op, and is recovering at home; she just has to do nothing for 2 weeks!
- Sharon: confined to the house as her wheelchair is broken, we hope it is fixed soon!
- Ann Edwards and Ann Powell: Both have been unwell, Ann E is on antibiotics, Ann P can just manage to exercise her dog!
- Those who are suffering the after effects of Covid, we hope they feel fully recovered soon.
- Chris Morris: waiting for scan results. Dorothy: she has an appointment with the consultant.
- The pandemic has affected many people in different ways, some are not as well as they were, many have slowed down, others, who were too nervous to venture out are still reluctant to go into enclosed places; we pray we will ALL be able to worship together again.
- Members of the former St David’s PCW will be sad to learn that Charles Tomkins passed away last weekend. He was the son of the late Bill and Dorothy Tomkins.
