The first Sunday in December is Gift Sunday at St. David’s.
We bring gifts of toys and games for Home Start – a volunteer organisation that offers informal and friendly support to families with young children.
We also bring toiletries, chocolate and small items of clothing for the Mill St. hostel for the homeless, run by Adref.
Our monetary appeals are usually divided between a charity that works internationally and one that works mainly locally.
This year we are supporting the international charity Freedom from Torture. One of the founders was Helen Bamber, whom we heard about in last week’s sermon given by Fiona.
And the local charity is Viva!, which creates leisure and training opportunities for children and young people with and without a disability.
