20th January 2019
We welcome all who join us today for our 17th Anniversary Celebrations, which are being led by our minister.
We are delighted to welcome to our service this morning, Rev Janice Jones from Presbytery, she will be taking part in the service as Peter Davies is ordained as an Elder of St David’s Uniting Church and Liz Henson is welcomed as a returning Elder, after a very long break!
The service will also include the celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and all who so wish are invited to share in the bread and wine.
Those who have ‘signed up’ for our Anniversary Lunch, at the Rhondda Suite, Heritage Park Hotel are asked to make there way to the hotel by 1.15pm. We are booked in for 1.30pm
Fair-traded refreshments will be served in the hall following the morning service. We invite you to join us for this time of informal fellowship and take time to look at the handmade cards which are on sale.
Our ‘Copper Pot’ is on the table waiting for your ‘small change’, the money is donated to ‘local’ charities; if you have any suggestions for a worthy charity please make it known.

Church Family and Pastoral News
People to hold in your thoughts and prayers:
- We remember all either of or connected to our fellowship who have recently been bereaved.
- We think of Chris F who is in hospital and also John D
- We pray for of all who are unable to worship with us, or do not remember us and we pray for their well-being.
- People we know who are receiving new treatment.
- Members of our fellowship who are leading worship elsewhere.
This Week and in the future
Who are Bus Users Cymru? Come along to Ladies Guild and find out what their mission is and what they can do for us. We all use the buses, Barclay Davies, our guest speaker will be able to enlighten us on the work of this group. We will meet as usual at 2pm.
Due to a lack of interest, the church weekend away has been cancelled. However, on the 23rd February, we will be having an away day at Libanus United Reformed Church – one of the churches soon to be blessed by Julie’s ministry. This will be a chance to reflect on why we do/are church and consider which holy habits might strengthen and surprise us in our journey together with God. Lunch will be provided and lifts will be available for those who don’t drive. We intend to gather at St David’s Uniting Church at 9:15am (where we will stay if the weather so determines) with the hope of beginning our day at Libanus at 10am and finishing around 3pm (so to allow time for those who wish to be back for a certain rugby match!). The themes of the day will be further explored the following day so those unable to join us for the open day will be included in our wider reflections. Could those intending to come please sign up at the list at the back of the church?”
As discussed at the last church meeting, an open committee has been formed to consider how best we might use Enid Williams’ bequest to fund a potential church worker. Any recommendations made by the group will of course be discussed at future church meetings but in the meantime, if you have any thoughts that you would like the committee to consider, please give them in writing – by email or as a physical copy – to Phil. Our next Church Meeting is on February 10th
The Church Directory is available at last!! We once again assure everyone that even if some details are missing no one is forgotten and ALL have an allocated Elder and will be cared for!
Greetings Cards! While Colleen is taking a well-earned break cards are still available and any requests should be given to Ann who is temporarily in charge. It is hoped that orders will be completed and available on 17th February.
